Chapter 47

* Bruno's POV *

"Helena... Helena please... I need to see you"

"Bruno? Why are you here?"

"What do you mean?"

"This is the land of the Dead Bruno"

"What?!"

I woke up with a scream. I felt my whole life flash before my eyes.... damn I'm in a hospital again. Lenora was next to me, just staring at my complexion.

"Bruno? Are you alright?"

I fell onto the pillow again. "No Lenora... I'm not... I couldn't get the ransom in on time... I failed my children... all because of little miss snake eyes...."

"Who?"

"Natalie. Natalie Cortez.... She ambushed me and took the money Lenora."

"Natalie Cortez..." Lenora took out her laptop and started throwing a bunch of codes in it. she looked at me. "There's no Natalie Cortez in the system Bruno... according to our intel... a Natalie Cortez does not exist..."

I looked at her with distaste. "So you're telling me, that I got ambushed and shot by people who don't even walk the earth?!"

Lenora shook her head at me. "You're such an idiot Bruno. I mean that whoever attacked you, works for the group that took your children. This Natalie you speak of, doesn't exist. At least with that name. It's not rare for this to happen. She must've worked for the group and took the money"

I sighed in anger. "I can't believe it... I trusted her. I trusted a snake Lenora..."

Lenora looked at me with pity. "Not everyone is a as innocent as a mouse. Sometimes a snake has to come by and make the mouse trust it before it strikes."

"Like you?"

"Like me" She stood up, gave me a quick pat on my shoulder and left. I don't think she's mad about the... anger I expressed on her those few days ago....

About a day later, I'm back in the Suite. Lenora was sometimes typing in her laptop. She asks if I want a coffee or something like that. I think she pities me.

I was walking slowly around the room when the phone rang. I answered it.

- Phone Conversation -

Bruno: "hello?"

???: "señor Hernandez. You've betrayed me! You killed my nephew. You took my money!"

Bruno: "I didn't take the money! Some bitch took the money when she threw two bullets in my body!"

???: "SILENCIO!!!!"

Bruno: "....."

???: "Señor Hernandez. Que Dios se encarga de sus hijas"

I was still as a rock.... they're dead....

Lenora saw my face and took the phone. "Give me the damn phone!" she started talking with the guy.

- Phone Conversation -

Lenora: "okay this is Lenora... Lenora O'Farrell... (sniff) and I'm very sorry for what ever happened to your nephew but I beg you... por favor no le hagas daño a mis hijas.... this conversation is not being recorded. Estas negociando directamente con migo.."

???: "I'm sorry. I am very sorry Señorita. I wish we had talked sooner....now it is too late."

- Hang up -

Lenora's eyes were filled with tears. I knew she felt bad. Even though she left the kid with me, Genie was still our daughter. She was a wreck, worse than me.

Agent Cortez went to consolidate her. Instead she went to me and gave me a big hug. I started to cry too.

My kids are dead... I've nothing left in life now...

* Lenora's POV *

God I feel horrible.

Why do I feel bad?

I may have left her but Genie's still my child... our child... I felt so useless now. I hear Bruno crying as hard as me. I hear Agent Cortez trying to talk with me.

I look at Bruno with so much sadness. "I'm sorry Bruno...." Only this time.... I meant it.
