★Josh's POV★

I got home from work at 9:30 and let out a sigh. I kicked off my shoes and called Tyler's name. When he didn't reply, I grew worried. He was supposed to be home at 8. I took out my phone to text him.

I sat on the couch just tapping my foot nervously for 10 minutes. I texted Tyler a second time and then a third time 10 minutes later. After 30 minutes I decided to call him. It rang 4 times before he answered.

"Hello?" When it was Tyler's voice on the other end I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank god you're okay," I said, my voice tired. "I've been texting you."

"Oh, sorry babe. I haven't really been checking my phone."

"Yeah, I noticed." I let out my anger a bit. "Where are you?"

"A few of the guys from the bar asked me to get drinks with them after my show."

"Drinks? You don't drink, Tyler."

"I know. But I'm hanging out with them while they drink."

"And you didn't think to let me know? You told me you'd be home 2 hours ago. I was really worried." I could feel a lump in my throat but I swallowed it down. "You couldn't even text me?"

"Listen, I said I'm sorry. I'll head home now. I should be there in 15 minutes." I heard him say goodbye to the people he was with. I tried to calm down. "Okay?"

"Alright," I huffed. "I'll see you in 15 minutes." He started to say something else but I hung up. I was mad. I think I deserved to be. He was late home last week too but that was only by 10 minutes. It was 2 hours this time. What if he just kept getting later and later and kept forgetting not to tell me. What if he kept me waiting forever?

I turned on the tv to try to distract myself from the doubt that was intruding. I didn't want to think about the possibilities. There was some old movie on. Aurora scurried out of the room she was napping in and hopped onto the couch. She curled up in my lap. I kissed the top of her soft head. She licked my nose and I laughed.

I heard the door open behind me and I stopped laughing. I just kept watching the movie.

Tyler said, "Josh?" He walked closer to the couch. I heard him moving around. Soon he was in front of me. I kept looking straight ahead. "Josh, please talk to me." I didn't give in. He just sighed and walked away. I didn't want to watch him leave so I stayed looking forward. The bedroom door closed behind him.

I ended up falling asleep during the movie. I woke up on the couch. Aurora was sitting on my chest. I sat up and she hopped off the couch. I saw that the bedroom door was open.

How did I end up sleeping on the couch when I was the one who was mad at him?

I got up to make some coffee. It was Saturday so I didn't have work. Neither did Tyler. The coffee finished brewing and I poured myself a cup. I shut my eyes and took in the smell. It reminded me of when Tyler and I would get coffee before school. When life was simpler.

"Hey." His voice startled me and I spilt some of my coffee. It burned my hand and I set down the mug.

"Damnit," I mumbled, getting a towel.

"I- I'm sorry," Tyler said. He sounded like he had been crying. I looked up at him and saw that his eyes were red.

"It's fine." I walked to get some ice from the freezer.

"No, not just about scaring you. Well, actually, it's about scaring you, but not only about just now," he rambled. He ran a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry about last night."

"I know," I sighed. "You've told me that already."

"Well, it doesn't really seem like you forgive me, so I'm gonna keep saying it." I threw down the ice and Tyler flinched back.

"Tyler, I'm trying. I'm just tired. Okay?" My voice faltered. I felt that familiar lump in my throat. I looked away from Tyler so he couldn't see.

"Okay," he replied, his voice quiet and careful. "Okay." I listened to his footsteps move further away.  I heard the door open and then close. I let my head fall and rest against the cabinet.

A/N
Okay, so I have an announcement pertaining to this book. I have a good template in place for the rest of this story. I'm hoping that my updates will become more frequent, like they have been this month.

So

I've decided that there will be a third book to this series! This book will be ending and there will be another one after it. I haven't decided how much more I want to include in this book, but I know how to end the entire story.

I hope you guys are alright with this decision. I don't want this book to get too long but I have a lot more story to write.
