I shivered and Percy's smirk faded.
"What were you doing here? And all by yourself? Where's Thomas? Don't tell me you snuck out," he said, rubbing my arms.
His touch sent shivers down my spine as his dark eyes shone with familiar care.
"He went to get a drink and he'll be back- you have to go," I said, starting to panic.
"He left you?" Percy asked.
"No- now go Percy! Thomas said he doesn't want to see you anywhere near me!" I said, panic evident in my voice.
Percy's smirk tugged at his lips.
"I was here first. And I rescued you- remember?" He said.
His smirk grew wider and his eyes flickered to my lips, then to the base of my neck.
Recognition and something else flashed through his eyes as he picked up the necklaces diamond gently examining it.
"You kept it," he murmured a genuine smile tugging at his lips.
My panic suddenly disappeared and my curiosity grew.
"You've seen it before?" I asked, my grip loosening.
"Yeah..." his voice trailed off happily.
"So you know where it came from? You know who gave it to me?" I asked excitedly ,taking his hands.
He sighed happily and nodded.
"Then who?" I asked, looking into his eyes. Something flashed through his eyes and he dropped the diamond.
"It was a gift from Thomas. An heir loom of his families ,wasn't it?" Percy asked, his smirk returning,"You wore it at school all the time. Went around telling people it was the evilness of a mans soul. That the mans soul was now complete-"
"-Because he found his true love and she'd fill the empty space with kindness, compassion and love," I whispered.
Disbelief flashed though his eyes as I finished the myth.
"You remember," he breathed.
I nodded
"Thomas saw it and didn't know where it came from. Are you sure he gave it to me?" I asked, looking up at him.
This seemed to snap Percy out of his daze and his eyes turned stone cold.
"Yeah sorry. That's all I know. I-I have to go," he said, running a shaky hand through his hair and turning on his heel abruptly.
"Percy wait!" I said as he stalked away,"Your jacket..."
But he was already long gone, his shadowed figure and fresh footsteps the only remainder of him ever being here.
I sighed and pulled the jacket tighter, fresh snow begging to fall.
"You kept it..."
Percy obviously knew more than he was letting on. But then why was he hiding it?
