Love Is Just A Pyramid Scheme

I pressed my phone screen and the WhatsApp app opened.

I scrolled through the contacts, most of messages from people telling me how happy they were that I was awake. Thomas' messages sat at the top of the list, telling me he loved me.

I scrolled until I came to the bottom of the list, where an unfamiliar name sat.

Seaweed brain?

I figured it was a nickname, as most of the people on my phone didn't have actual names, just silly nicknames I'd given them.

I hesitated, then opened the chat. An empty screen met my eyes with no messages reading across the screen.

All messages deleted. Restore? It asked. My eyes widened as I read the notification.

My finger hesitated above the screen.

Maybe I deleted it for a reason. Maybe... Yet I couldn't find a reason for why I deleted them.

Just as I was about to tap on restore Thomas knocked on my door, startling me.

"Knock knock Sailor," he said, as he leaned against the frame.

I smiled hastily and clicked the power button on my iPhone.

The screen switched to black, the restore and cancel option disappearing as the phone temporarily turned off.

"Dinners almost ready," he said, crossing his arms as a grin spread across his lips.

"You can cook? I really am lucky," I laughed, setting my phone down as I stood up.

He met me halfway, snaking his arms around my waist.

His forehead touched to mine as I clasped my hands behind his neck. The loving embrace was so natural, yet it didn't feel right.

"Hey Thomas? Can I ask you something?" I asked.

His eyes stared into mine and he said, "Mmhhmm."

"Who's Seaweed brain?" I asked. Something flashed through his eyes as he shook his head.

"I don't know. Why?" He asked, steeping back.

"No reason," I said, sitting back down.

He opened his mouth to say something just as something beeped downstairs.

"Supper will be ready in five minutes," he said over his shoulder, racing out my room.

I sighed in relief.

That was close.

I opened my phone again, the notification still there.

Restore?

A memory suddenly washed over me.

"Look! Look I got it!" I laughed, handing the dark eyed boy the book.

The book was electric blue with silver writing.

He smirked and shook his head.

"Really Amb? This is just cruel," he laughed.

I grinned as he flipped through the pages. He looked up at me.

"No pictures?" He pouted.

"No pictures," I laughed.

He sighed and handed me the book.

"I can't believe you bought this book," he said as I laughed.

"He's your namesake!" I protested.

"My namesake? What makes you think I'm not older?"

"He was there in Greek mythology," I said smugly.

"Oh really? And what of his girlfriend?" The boy smirked.

"She's...shut up," I said.

He laughed and shut his locker.

"Got you there Princess," he smirked.

"Hey Guys," Thomas said, wrapping his arm around my waist,"What you two gossiping 'bout?"

"She bought the book," The boy said firmly.

Thomas laughed and took the book from my offering hands.

"You actually bought it?" He asked.

I laughed as the other boy said,"That's what I said."

"Odd name," Thomas said, handing me the book.

"You should hear what the Annabeth calls him," I said.

"Annabeth?" Thomas looked me.

"His friend," I said.

The dark eyed boy shook his head and narrowed his eyes.

"What'd she call him?" he asked.

"She called him Seaweed Brain," I grinned,"So that's your new nickname Percy. Cause as she said, your brain is filled with nothing but seaweed."

Thomas and Percy's laughter rang through my head as the memory faded.

My eyes widened as I realized Thomas had lied. He'd been right there when I had given Percy his nickname.

I forgot my hesitation and my finger tapped on restore.

Hey guys so a bit of a Percy Jackson reference here...(don't judge I love him. He's like my not real hero) Hope you guys enjoyed and thanks for the 100 votes! (And no the part where she 'quotes' Annabeth is not an actual quote.)
