"See? It's easy," he said, laughing as I gripped his shoulders.
"What if I fall?" I whined, tightening my grip.
"Then you fall," he said, shrugging.
His move ripped me off balance and the surf board under me shoot forward into the waves.
I squealed, flailing backwards. A pair of strong arms caught me and a dazzling green eyed smile met my eyes.
"Percy playing rough?" Thomas asked, a mischievous grin on his face.
It took me a second to get his joke and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
"He's being really mean," I pouted.
"Oh? Maybe I should give him a little knuckle sandwich," Thomas said, puffing his chest out.
"Hey! I didn't do anything!" Percy protested.
I stuck my tongue out and Thomas laughed.
Percy sighed in mock relief.
"Sheesh. You guys give me heart attacks," he said, wading out the water.
Thomas followed him, me still in his arms.
"Hey Amb can I talk to you about something?" Percy said, retrieving my surfboard.
Thomas' grip tightened and his eyes glinted harshly.
"Yeah. I'm on my way," I said, trying to get out of Thomas' arms.
"You utter even a word about what happened yesterday and you'll be sorry. I promise you Ambrosia," Thomas hissed, quietly enough that only I heard,"And put more make up on. If you don't cover that bruise better he'll see it."
Thomas' eyes glinted and changed, growing softer and tender,"I only want you to be safe Ambrosia. And if he finds out, he'll try and take you away from me. That's not what you want is it?"
I shook my head and he kissed my forehead.
"I knew I could count on you Amb. I love you," he whispered, setting my feet down.
I felt my heart give a fearful squeeze as he kissed my forehead and I walked over to Percy.
"Just bring her back ok?" Thomas joked, high-fiving Percy.
Percy nodded and draped his arm on my shoulder.
Thomas frowned at this, but said nothing.
He turned and walked away, his feet leaving indents in the sand as his figure receded.
"You'll pay for the arm later," I pointed out.
Percy smirked and leaned down, his lips catching mine in a brief embrace. "I'm fine with that," he smirked,"I'll do anything for you."
"No."
My eyes widened.
"No?" I asked.
"No," Percy agreed.
"What do you mean no?" I asked.
"I'm not helping you Ambrosia. Haven't I helped you enough?" He smirked.
"Percy I-"
"Thomas phoned me earlier this week and told me to sod off. Said I was interfering with your healing process. Now I'm all for pissing the little bastard off but I'm not about to make you worse. I can't have that on my conscience-"
"Are you done?" I interrupted.
"Wait-" he breathed in heavily and sighed,"Proceed Mi lady."
"You're an idiot," I hissed.
"Whatever you say princess," he said and I could practically hear his smirk.
"I need to meet with you. I have a few things to discuss," I said.
"I already-"
"It's about Thomas...and what happened in the weeks leading up to my accident," I quipped, cutting him off.
"I'm in. I'll see you in an hour at the diner downtown. Don't be late," he said.
"Shouldn't I be saying that to you?"
"See you princess," he smirked, hanging up.
I breathed in heavily and set the phone down.
