Zak set the tea down and and I smiled.

"How are you Ambrosia?"He asked, sitting next to me.

"I've been doing well," I smiled, the tea warming my hands.

Zak sipped his tea, pausing politely before gesturing towards me.

"Thomas tells me you've begun to regain your memories. You remember me very well?" He asked, setting his cup down.

I hesitated then nodded slowly.

"I remember...you had a girlfriend. Her name was...Gabi wasn't it? How is she?" I asked, straining my memory.

Zak shook his head and smiled.

"I don't know. We broke up just after your coma," Zak shrugged.

I frowned.

"Why? Weren't you her type?"

Zak laughed. "It's more like she wasn't my type."

I frowned again.

"What was wrong with her?" I questioned.

"She was female," he said simply, picking up his tea.

"She was...female?" Understanding bloomed and my eyes widened.

Zak laughed at my reaction and set his cup down again.

"I see you figured it out. I hope nothing changes between us now that you know I'm gay," he said, looking at me solemnly.

I waved my hands frantically. "Oh no! No it's just...you don't seem..."

"Gay? Thomas couldn't believe it either," Zak chuckled.

"Thomas knows?" I asked.

"Yeah. Why do you think he was always so okay with letting me hang around you all the time? He knew I would never try to steal you," Zak laughed.

"Steal me? Who would try and steal me?" I asked, meaning it more as a joke.

But Zak's eyes darkened momentarily and he cleared his throat.

"I see you're wearing Thomas' ring," he said, gesturing at it pointedly.

"Oh? Yeah...he uh gave it to me after the party," I said, raising my hand to examine a plain silver band on my right hand ring finger.

Zak smiled knowingly.

"He is hoping to relive what has already passed," Zak said.

"What has passed?" I asked, leaning closer.

Zak opened his mouth to say something but Thomas suddenly stood behind us.

"What're you two talking about?" Thomas asked and for a second I thought he glared at Zak.

Zak looked down and picked up his cup, sipping.

"Just going over my old girlfriend Gabi. You remember her don't you?" Zak said, clearing his throat.

"Yeah, I do," Thomas said, sitting in between us.

He snaked his arm around my waist as if proving something.

He spoke to Zak, his grip purposely tight and I wondered what he was hiding.

Zak knows something. But Thomas won't let him tell me what it is. What's he hiding from me?
