We get to the apartment complex and it is really nice. Nicer than I thought it was going to be anyways. Santiago takes up all of my luggage and places it in the living room. He has to leave as soon as he gets upstairs because the ranch hands have been blowing up his phone he has to get back and see what the hell is going on. As I look around I see that Sabrina did an amazing job with all the decorations. I am loving the black leather couch and all the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo art work; she knows my style to a T.
Then I notice is a play pen in the middle of the living room with a beautiful baby sleeping inside. She has light brown ringlets and rosy cheeks she is really chubby and I love a chubby baby. This must be the bull rider's baby girl that Santiago was talking about.
"Sabrina?" I whisper.
"I'm in the bathroom, I'll be right out."
The baby stirs awake and sits up looking around. She begins to cry and once she notices me she puts her arms out to me. I go to the play pen and pick her up in my arms. She touches my face and smiles at me showcasing her four tiny teeth, it makes me smile. She has dimples and is a complete doll, she is a stunning baby.
"Hi Chiquita, what's your name?" I ask as I wipe the tears from her blue eyes.
"Her name is Trinity," Sabrina says from behind me. I turn to look at her. I am in shock when I see a clearly visible baby bump. "Surprise?" she says unsure. This is the reason she put her education on hold.
"Wow, how far along are you?" I say grabbing her to me in a huge hug. I have missed my baby cousin so much.
"I'm almost seven months," she says as she pats the couch for me to sit. I join her on the couch bouncing Trinity on my lap.
"I didn't realize that you were seeing someone."
"I am and he is a really great guy."
"Is he a local boy? Who is his family?"
"Uh, no he is not local. He lives out of state but he is here twice a month."
"Where is he from? What's his name?"
"Where is he from? What's his name?" She sounds like a damn parrot.
"Girl, what's wrong with you?"
"His name is Noel and he lives in California." She says quickly and looks away.
It hits me all at once what she just said. It makes so much sense; he travels to Texas to help his father. His father is a big shot immigration lawyer among other things. They became really friendly when she and Santiago came to California for a visit.
"Wait, what? My Changs?" I ask just to make sure I have the right Noel. "Why didn't he tell us?
