Man, what a crazy night it was but I am so glad that it's over; it could have been so much worse. She is mine and I am hers, anyone that will hurt my baby will get the wrath of this mama bear. I cannot believe how easy my nurturing side came out. Maybe I was meant to be a mama after all.
"Mama, tilla," Trinity smiles as Changs feeds her the Tortilla. She tried to feed herself but her right arm is in a cast and it was hard for her. She kept dropping it and crying; so her Tio stepped in.
"Oh, that looks yummy! Tio Changs loves you so much; doesn't he, my love?" I say and she smiles a toothy grin which makes me laugh.
"You love me, Trin?" Changs asks with a smile. She nods happily.
"Hey, what about us?" The Gooch laughs and she nods again. "Good."
Just as we finish eating our food, Dr. Luna comes back in with a tiny wheel chair. It is purple and black and has a soft seat; it has long cushioned area that is meant to hold a leg straight. The seat can recline back in case she falls asleep.
"Wow, look at that fancy chair Trinity," Joaquin says.
"Okay, Trinity, can I see you sit in the chair?" Dr. Luna smiles.
"No," she sasses.
"Trinity Juliana," Joaquin scolds. She of course pouts her lips. I go over and rub my hand on his back. "Please be a good girl, honey." He says in a calmer tone.
"I have another lolly," Dr. Luna bribes her. "You want it?" she nods shyly. "Okay, then can I see you in the chair?" she nods again.
"I tandy!" she squeals.
"Okay then; come here girl." He laughs. She puts her arms out to him. "Let's see what a big girl you look like in your chair."
He carries her to the wheelchair while unwrapping her lollypop; we follow close behind them. He sits her down gently and places her casted leg in the cushioned area. She couldn't care less as she licks on her lolly happily. Man, I need to make sure she gets her teeth brushed extra good; not that she has a lot of teeth to begin with.
"Okay, mama and daddy; her leg needs to be straight just like this when she sits in the wheelchair. She absolutely cannot put weight on her leg at all. She can play on the floor but it needs to be supervised."
"Man, that's gonna be hard; she is stubborn." Joaquin laughs.
"Gee, I wonder why?" I giggle.
"Hey," he says with a pout. I give him a quick kiss. He pulls me back for a longer smooch.
"Eww." Guerro laughs. "That's yucky right Trinity." She just babbles and giggles.
"I'll be sending ya'll home with two cast covers and a bench for the bathtub." Dr. Luna says. "Got to keep that cast nice and dry."
"Thank you for everything you have done for Trinity," I say and hug him.
"Ya'll are more than welcome. Little Ms. Trinity, are you ready to go home now?"
"I bye bye," she says with her mouth and hands all sticky.
"What about when she is in her car seat? We will be driving four hours back home on Thursday." Joaquin asks.
"I'll get ya'll a leg extension for t her car seat." Dr. Luna says while adjusting the head rest for Trinity.
I go grab her backpack that the neighbor brought last night. I grab out a pair of stretchy black shorts and a matching top. She may have casts on her arm and leg but she can still look adorable. I grab her wipes and a diaper she looks at me and smiles. Her eyes look so much better but the bruising looks so painful.
"Come, my love, let me get you ready so we can go." I say while wiping her sticky mouth with the baby wipe.
"Darlin', I am fixin' to take all this stuff to the truck," Joaquin says and comes and kisses us.
"Thank you, baby," I say returning the kiss.
I dress her slowly so I do not hurt her. She whines a few times and I feel horrible; the guys try to make her laugh by dancing and singing. I take out her brush and try to brush her hair gently.
"Owie, mama," she cries.
"I'm sorry," I say kissing her temple. A nurse walks with and looks at me with sympathy in her eyes.
"Her head will be tender for a while," the nurse says.
"My poor baby girl," I say aa a tear escapes my eye.
"Mama, she will be just fine," the nurse says as she hugs me.
"Thank you," I say. She is all ready to go. Dr. Luna comes in and smiles at us.
"All of her pain medications have been sent electronically to the pharmacy next to ya'll's hotel. Give her the first dose when ya'll get to the hotel."
"Yes sir," I say. "I love you, Trinity."
"I wub you, Mama." She says in baby babble. I get so excited because this is the first time she said it to me. Joaquin walks in and sees me crying.
"What's wrong Darlin?"
"She just told me she loves me." I say.
"She did? Did you tell mama that you love her?" He runs up to us and tickles her tummy. He must have moved too fast for her because she puts her arm up in a protective way and flinches. She begins to cry hysterically.
Man this is going to be long road of recovery for our daughter; but I am in it through thick and thin.
