Joaquin
Did he just say that we should get married?! That is not at all what I expected him to say. I would marry her in a heartbeat; today if she agreed to it. I seriously doubt that she would say yes; I look up at her and she is in deep thought. Just her be so quiet makes me nervous as hell. She finally looks up after a few seconds which feels like an eternity.
"Let's do it," she says.
"What?" Changs and I both say in shock.
"I want to marry you. We were eventually going to do it anyways, At least I thought so. You're it for me Gordo,"
"Darlin' are you certain?" I ask and she nods. "Okay wait here a second."
"What?" she asks as I run to my truck.
I get to my truck and pull out the birthday gift I bought for her. It was supposed to be a surprise but I need it now. I grab it and put it in my suit jacket and take a huge breath. I run back to her, she has an amused and confused look on her face. I tip my hat to her and she blushes something fierce.
"What are you doing, silly?" she laughs.
"This," I say.
I take out the black velvet box out of my pocket and get on one knee. My heart is pounding in my ears. My eyes flood with tears and wipe them away quickly. She has her hand over her mouth; she has her own tears streaming down her. I swallow the brick that is in my throat down so I can speak.
"Will you do me the honor of being my wife, Juliana?" I ask with a shaky voice. I take the diamond ring out of the box and hold it between my fingers.
"Oh my God, Yes! Yes! Yes!" she squeals loudly. "Wait, you had a ring?"
"It was supposed to be a promise ring; now it's your wedding ring." I say winking at her. I stand up and pull her into my arms and kiss the hell out of her.
"You bought this for me, baby?" she says in shaky voice.
"Yes, last night that's why it took me so long to come home. I picked it up this morning before coming to the church."
I place the ring on her finger despite my hand shaking so bad. I am so thrilled that she said yes, this is the dream I had since I was a little boy. I pull her in for another kiss and she pulls off my hat and tosses it on the brick wall; she runs her fingers through my hair over and over again. I moan quietly in her mouth, man the things she does to me. I can't believe that we are going to do this; a thought hits me like a ton of bricks; how the fuck will we get married by court tomorrow? In all the excitement it slipped our minds.
"Okay, now that we are getting married; the question I have is how will we do it by tomorrow?" I ask.
"Don't worry guys; I'll take care of all the legal stuff. Give me an hour," Changs says.
We head into the church and we sit down as they are singing 'It is Well With My Soul'. I keep thinking in my head God I need you so badly right now; please let everything work out. She squeezes my hand as if she can hear my thoughts. I am so excited to be able to marry the love of my life but I am also so scared that I will lose my baby girl.
Church consisted of a lesson about trusting God in all things; which is something I needed to hear especially today. They prayed for the safety of the riders in the championship. Once church was over they had us stand at the door to shake hands with everyone. Once the parade of parishioners passed through I look out the door and see Changs has returned. We walk over to him to see what news he has for us.
"Okay, everything is set, marriage license and all that shit," he says holding up a manila folder.
"How the hell how did you pull that off?" I ask, shocked.
"My dad knows people and they owed him a favor," he says.
"What are you guys doing?" Hector asks.
"Well, she said yes. It looks like we are getting married today." I say and Juliana's eyes go wide.
"Well okay then," he smiles at us.
"That's all you're gonna say daddy?" She laughs.
"Congratulations!" he laughs. "I gave Joaquin my blessing last night. That's who I was talking to on the phone at Target. Let me check with Pastor John to see if he can marry ya'll now."
"Wait, you don't have a ring Joaquin," Jules says.
"I don't need a ring," I say.
"Honey, yes you do. I don't want any Rodeo Rats trying to get my husband." She giggles.
"I got you, guys I will go and pick up a wedding band for you guys," The Gooch says. "Joaquin what size is your finger?"
"I have no fucking clue." I laugh. Guerro walks up to us. He did not go to church with us; he did not feel comfortable. He told me that his father was a minster when he was a little boy but she had an affair with the church secretary and it messed up church for him. He now only goes for weddings and funerals.
"What's going on?" he asks.
"Jules and Joaquin are getting married today." The Gooch fills him in.
"Really?" he asks. In that moment I know which of Juliana's friends she had sex with. The sadness that came into his eyes cuts me like a knife. He loves her but I love her too.
"Yeah, we are trying to figure out his ring size." Jules says.
"Here, try my class ring," he says. He takes it off and I try it on; it's a perfect fit. "It's a size ten."
"Okay, size ten, Guerro, you want to come with me to get the ring?"
"Sure, hey guys congrats!" he forces out.
Once they leave I take the chance to hug my girls tightly. I kiss the both of them and I begin to get teary eyed. She looks up at me caresses my face.
"I promise to give you the wedding of your dreams later," I say.
"Baby, wherever you and Trin are is all I need." She says through tears.
Her dad come and gives us the thumbs up. My stomach has butterflies that are tap dancing like crazy. This is really going to happen; she is the love of my life and I can't wait to make her my wife. She kisses my cheek and it sends my heart all a flutter. I can't wait to start this new chapter our lives.
