The look on Joaquin's face is so sad when he sees her freaking out. He crouches down in front of her so she can see his face. A lone tear escapes his eyes, falling down his face; it makes me cry too; my heart breaks for the both of them.
"Baby girl, it's me daddy, I am so sorry I scared you. I would never hurt you, my love." He cries. "I love you Trinity."
"I wub you, dada," she chokes out between sobs.
"Let's get you home to the hotel," He says. She puts her arms out to him. He picks her up and he brings her close to his body to snuggle her. His phone rings; he takes it out of his pocket and hands it to me. "Darlin', answer it; I need to snuggle my daughter."
"Sure, baby," I say and kiss his cheek. "Hello?'
"Can I please speak to Joaquin Ortega?" the woman's voice says.
"He is currently unavailable. What can I help you with? I'm his wife."
"This is the Houston County Court House. We are calling an emergency hearing in the custody case of Ms. O'Connor and Mr. Ortega. The hearing will take place this afternoon at one."
"Hold on please," I say putting the phone on mute. "Babe, they want us to be at the court today at one for an emergency hearing."
"Today?" He says as he looks at Changs who is on the phone too. He hangs up and walks over to us.
"You're gonna want to go to this hearing Joaquin," Changs says.
"Alright then, tell them we'll be there, darlin." he says kissing my temple. I un-mute the phone.
"Ma'am, we'll see ya'll at one." I say as I hang up the phone.
"Let's hit the road, we have enough time to get in a nap before court." Joaquin says. His eyes look so exhausted. "I didn't sleep well last night."
"I know babe, me either" I say.
We gather all our things and head down to the truck. Trinity is sitting in her wheel chair and Narizon pushes her down the hall.
"Beep, beep, watch out for little miss Trinity." He calls out laughing. She laughs at all his beeping and funny noises he is making. We reach the truck and Joaquin scoops her up out of the wheelchair. He puts her in her car seat and her leg on the new extension.
"Owie dada," she cries.
"Damn it, looks like the pain medication is wearing off," he says to me then he turns back to Trinity, "Baby, I know; daddy wishes he can take the pain away."
"Babe, let's get to the hotel you can take baby girl up to the room and I will go to the pharmacy to pick up the medication," I say.
"What would I do without you, darling?" He says getting into the truck.
"Let's not find out mi Amor," I giggle.
We get to the hotel and Joaquin takes a now sleeping Trinity upstairs. The guys come up and let me know that they will meet us at the court. I notice the pharmacy is just across the way. I go and pick up her pain medication and grab some snacks and sodas. As I head back to the hotel I climb the stairs and feel how exhausted I truly am. I open the door and find Joaquin passed out on the bed; Trinity however is trying to climb off the heart shaped bed. My heart goes into my stomach.
"Stop right there, little girl," I say dropping the bag on the floor. "You'll hurt yourself; get your booty back in that bed with daddy." I pick her up and put her back next to Joaquin.
"I toons, Mama," She whines.
"You want to watch a new movie mama got for you?" I ask putting pillows behind her back. She nods. I take out the DVD of Moana I found at the pharmacy and put it into the DVD player.
The movie starts and she is captivated by it; I get snack ready for her because she needs to eat with her medication. I get gold fish crackers ready and her juice; I take it to her and she gobbles down the gold fish and juice. I take the medication attempt to give it to her and she is having none of it. Joaquin stirs awake and stares at us confused, still half asleep.
"Me no like it, mama" She whines.
"My love it will make the owie go bye bye," I say. She looks at me between me and Joaquin.
"Take your medicine Trinity, please," Joaquin pleads with her.
"Otay dada," She says and opens her mouth to my surprise. "Mama me moobie" she says pushing me to side because I was blocking her view. Joaquin and I burst out laughing.
"Baby, you want me to make you a sandwich? I bought stuff."
"Yes, please." he smiles.
I go into the small kitchen area and make us sandwiches. He comes and wraps his arms around my waist and kisses my neck. I turn to him and kiss him passionately; we get carried away forgetting Trinity was there. Until she calls out to us.
"Mama I chita," she says.
"Okay baby, I will bring you milk." I get her sippy cup and fill it with milk. I notice Joaquin adjusting himself and I crack up.
"See what you're doing to me woman?" he laughs.
"You know you like it." I tease him.
"Hell yes I do, to be continued darlin." he winks at me.
I take our sandwiches to the table so we can sit down and eat. I take Trinity her milk and she is falling in and out of sleep. I go to sit down at the table and Joaquin pulls me into his lap. He pushes a stray hair behind my ear and kisses my lips. I look into his crystal blue eyes and fall even more in love with him.
"I love you Darlin' I am so glad that I have you here with me."
"There is no place I'd rather be."
I put my fingers through his hair and he hums happily while biting into his sandwich. This man is the love I've been waiting for and I am so blessed to share my life with him. I can't wait to get home and start our normal routine; whatever that will be.
But first let's see what this judge has to say for herself; I know Joaquin and I have some choice words for her.
