Jules
I look down and see Trinity, smile at her then I look back and see her daddy. Just seeing him pisses me off. He walks closer but he is very cautious with every move he makes. He puts his hands up as if to say I surrender; I roll my eyes at him. Damn he is so cute though.
"Before you say anything please let me say something to you." he says and his accent is thicker than I remember. Or maybe I lost mine long ago.
"Say what you need to say Joaquin," I say annoyed.
"I am so sorry about what I said to you Jules. I didn't mean it. Seeing you sent me into a tailspin of mixed emotions. I am terribly sorry."
"I felt like shit last night, you made me feel so bad. I mean I harbor so much guilt for leaving you behind and you made me feel so much worse." I say through tears.
"I know, I know. your daddy told me that you did write me. I promise you that I never seen one letter. He even told me that ya'll came for a visit that summer."
"You never saw them, but who wrote me back?" I say confused.
"I have no idea."
"Yeah when we came for the visit your Abuela ran me away. I asked her for your phone number and she yelled at me."
"Oh my God. I will have to ask my Abuelo about that. My Abuela passed last year after a long battle with dementia."
"Oh, I am sorry about that Joaquin."
"Thank you. At least she got to meet Trinity. She kept thinking that she was my daddy as a baby."
"Oh that is so sad. You gonna sit down or what?" I ask.
"Depends, am I forgiven?"
"Of course you are Gordo. I could never stay mad at you; even if I tried."
"Let's make this clear, you are the only one that can call me Gordo." he says with a smile.
"Okay." I say with a giggle making him smile.
He goes over to Trinity who has made her way to the water's edge. She is looking down at the water. He bends down and wraps one arm around her waist. He points over to the water and she smiles up at him. He is so handsome but seeing how tender he is with his daughter makes him look so fucking hot.
"Wa wa Dada." she squeals.
"Yes baby, don't go in Mija." he smiles as he picks her up.
"How old is she?"
"She is fifteen months old," he says.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure you can."
"Where is her mama?"
"Trinity's mama, Olivia didn't want to be a mama so when she was two weeks old she dropped her off with me and never came back."
"Has Trinity ever seen her?"
"Twice but Olivia wasn't interested in her. She came to a Rodeo that I was at. She saw her from a distance. She is better off that way."
"Wow, who couldn't love this little one?" I say picking her up in my arms. I kiss her hand and she turns to me and kisses me back. "Were ya'll together?"
"No, it was a one night stand that made me a daddy to this angel. My uncle made me do a paternity test and she indeed was mine. Best mistake I've ever made."
"Tell me what you've been up to since we left."
"Well I moved to Mississippi and lost a ton of weight the first six months there by working on my uncles farm. I played football in high school and learned to bull ride."
"Wow, a football player and a bull rider?"
"Yeah, well I gave up football senior year to bull ride full time."
I look down and see that Trinity has fallen asleep in my arms. Gordo smiles down at us, he gets up and runs off. I look across the river and smile at all our fun memories here. I hear Gordo laughing and I turn around and see that he has returned with a stroller. He grabs Trinity and lies her in it she moves a bit so he pats her back and she settles back to sleep.
"What's funny?" I ask him.
"Remember that time you were obsessed with that movie where the guy teaches the girl how to dance." He cracks up.
"Oh you mean Dirty Dancing, what about it?"
"Remember you made me recreate the part where he picks her up over his head in the lake?"
"Oh my God!! I forgot about that." I laugh.
"Yeah, you busted my mouth with your foot. I still have the scar," he says pulling down his lip.
"Oh my God that is so funny!" I stay and stand up. I grab his hand and he looks up at me confused. "Let's do it again!"
"What, are you serious?"
"Yeah it will be fun! Come on Joaquin like old times."
"Alright," he says taking off his boots.
I stand there staring as removes his clothing down to his boxers. His body is that of Adonis; maybe better. He has tattoos and I am a sucker for a man with tattoos. I fight the urge to touch his muscular abs and chest. I take off my shirt and shorts and stand there in my bra and panties. I could have sworn that he licked his lips; hell, if he tried to kiss me I wouldn't stop him.
"Ready?" he says snapping me back. I look out to the lake and it's just as beautiful as I remember. It's crystal clear waters are calling to me as it did as a little girl. It is a peaceful place that I used to come to be alone to read a book or just hang out quietly with Gordo.
"Yeah," I say. I begin to wade into the river. "Fuck, it's cold!"
"Sissy, hurry up!" He laughs. He swims off to the middle of the lake.
I swim out to him and he smiles at me. My lord that is a panty dropping smile right there. The water is reflecting in his eyes making them twinkle. He reaches out to me, he pulls me closer making me shake a bit.
"Ready?" He asks.
"Yes." I squeal out as he grabs me by my waist. He lifts me over his head effortlessly. I feel just like Baby from Dirty Dancing.
He begins to lower me down, I slide down his bare chest. Feeling every ripple of every muscle on his chest against my own chest. We are face to face now I can feel his minty breath on my face. This feels so normal and natural to me. He tucks a stray strand of hair behind my ear. My breath catches as I see him lick his lips.
"I'm so glad you're back in my life Jules," he says in his deep voice.
"Me too Gordo," I say.
He caresses my cheek tenderly sending shivers through my whole body. He moves closer and closer, our lips are almost touching. My heart is pounding in my ears in anticipation of our first ever kiss.
"JOAQUIN!" Someone yells.
What the hell! Really?
