XII- Percy

"Uh, guys? You might want to come see this."

After hearing that from Leo, the rest of the Seven shared a look.

"Gods," Annabeth groaned, "Can't Gaea give us a break?"

"Obviously not." Jason muttered, sliding out of his chair.

Hazel shrugged, pulling herself to her feet. "Maybe Gaea has nothing to do with this. Let's go look before we jump to conclusions."

With that, they all climbed up on deck, where they were met with a scene they were, to say the least, not expecting.

In front of them, stood dozens of monsters: telekhines, harpies, gryphons... heck, even a small hydra. How they all got on the Argo II, Percy had no idea. He didn't really find it all that important that he look for an answer.

Jason sent a side-glance at Hazel. "Are we allowed to jump to conclusions now?"

Hazel nodded weakly.

Leo stood at the helm, on fire, surrounded by a group of Gaea's minions.

"Jason, Frank," Percy shouted out, "Go help Leo! The rest of us will deal with these uglies."

Percy froze in memory. 'Uglies'-- that was what Michael Yew had called Kronos' monster army... right before he died.

Percy snapped out of his memories of the past when a telekhine's claws slashed the air in front of his face. Riptide's blade flashed, and the telekhine was reduced to dust.

Percy spotted Jason, Frank, and Leo fending off the monsters at the helm, Leo's hair still flaming. Piper and Annabeth were dealing with the hydra, burning the stumps where the heads once were with Greek fire. Hazel was fighting off a couple gryphons, pelting them with cursed gems that shot out of the ocean.

Percy slashed through a couple harpies, reminding himself that they were nothing like Ella. It went on like that for a while longer: slash, stab, whirl... his battle reflexes taking over; just like they did in they did in the battle against Kronos.

Slash, stab, whirl.

Slash, stab, whirl.

Just when it seemed that the enemies stood no chance against the Seven, the fates, yet again, intervened. A scream pierced the air, followed by a splash. Percy whirled around after stabbing another telekhine.

Hazel.

The fighting around Percy raged, but he stole a quick glance to where the daughter of Pluto once stood.

She wasn't there. Percy froze. "No, no, no." He ran over to the railing and looked over. The waves below were choppy as always, and there was no sign of Hazel.

Pain shot up Percy's arm as a telekhine's claws scraped against his skin, and he snapped back to reality. Riptide's blade met the telekhine's head, and the monster disintegrated.

"Hazel?" Frank's voice rang out.

Percy cursed. "Frank!" he called.

The son of Mars pierced a dracanae in the side with an arrow, then turned to face Percy.

"Hazel fell overboard!" Percy shouted while beheading another telekhine. "I'll search for her once we kill these things!"

Frank's eyes widened. "No! Go look for her now. We'll hold out here."
