IX- Hazel

If Hazel's intention was to freak everyone out, then she'd succeeded.

Everyone started asking questions at once.

"How do you know?"

"How did you contact them?"

"Are they okay?"

Hazel raised her hands, as if saying, hold on! "Guys," she said, trying to get their attention. Once they quieted down, she lowered her hands. "Thank you. Now, Leo, I know because I talked to Nico. Annabeth, I got through with the Iris Message. I tried again, and I was able to get through for a couple seconds, long enough to talk to Nico."

Hazel turned to Frank. "And Frank, I don't know about Reyna. As much as I hate to say it, she's as good as dead. As for Nico and Hedge, they got away. They're scouting the borders of Gaea's so-called "monster hideout/camp", coming up with a plan to rescue Reyna."

Percy frowned. "What I want to know is, why bother capturing Reyna? I mean, why would Gaea need her?"

Why would Gaea need her? said a soft voice, almost mocking what Percy had asked.

Hazel's fists clenched. "Gaea."

Hazel could imagine Gaea rolling her eyes when she responded with, No, it's Zeus, king of the gods! Of course I'm Gaea!

"What do you want, Gaea?" Piper said calmly.

Well, I figured I could enlighten you about a certain Praetor of Rome. Perseus, you wanted to know why I captured the daughter of Bellona? Just think. Reyna is the Praetor of Rome. Greeks are at war with the Romans. Reyna is the key to peace. Without her, war will continue. And I will rise!

"Yeah, well you keep on dreaming, Gaea!" Jason yelled out defiantly. "You're not rising anytime soon."

And why is that, son of Jupiter? Gaea asked. You know fully well I have the upper hand. Your demigod allies are fighting each other, not my army. I have the Praetor of Rome with me. That pathetic son of Hades and that old goat are as good as lost. You seven demigods can't survive a day without being attacked by one of my army. You're running out of time.

"Leave, Gaea." Hazel said firmly.

Very well. I would wish you luck, but you don't need it. That is, with failing. I will rise, sooner or later. And you seven pathetic demigods will be my servants, or die!

On that happy note, Gaea was gone.

"Well, at least we know Reyna's alive." Annabeth said.

"Yeah, for now." Frank added. "Who knows what Gaea could do to her!"
