XL- Annabeth
The shock of Gaea being defeated hadn't even hit Annabeth yet.
Everything happened all at once, and even Annabeth's Athenian brain was still trying to process it all.
Even though Gaea was gone, the demigods still had to deal with the remaining army. And to make matters worse, the monsters were even angrier than before, now that Gaea had been defeated.
The monsters, blinded by rage, immediately charged at the demigods, who simutaineously yelled a battle cry and ran towards the monster army. Once more, weapons clashed, demigods yelled in pain and frustration, and monsters burst into golden dust.
Unlike before, the Seven didn't split, and a circle of destruction surrounded the group of heroes. They had defeated Gaea; nothing was going to stop them now.
Annabeth dropped to the ground as a gryphon's talons flew over her head, barely missing her. Behind her, Jason brought his sword up, summoning a bolt of lightning to fry the gryphon to ashes.
Metal clanged against metal, as a empousa's dagger bounced harmlessly off Annabeth's armor. Glaring at the vampire, Annabeth brought her sword up in a deadly swing, and the empousa erupted into dust, spraying all over Annabeth.
An arrow shot past Annabeth's arm, piercing a telekine's skin, followed by a "Nice one, Frank!" from Hazel.
"Annabeth, duck!" Percy yelled, slamming into Annabeth to block a sword strike from a dracanae Annabeth hadn't even seen coming. From her spot on the ground, Annabeth swung her foot around to knock the monster off of its feet, jumping up before plunging her sword through the monster's armor. The dracanae exploded into dust on the spot.
The fight continued for what seemed like hours longer, the sky finally reaching an eerie black, dotted with bright stars.
The air was calm and cool, and it would have otherwise been a peaceful night, but the battle cries and metal clashes continued on through the night, ringing out so loud Annabeth was surprised the people of Athens hadn't seemed to notice anything.
Sometime in the middle of the fight, the gods decided to join the Seven in their little circle of destruction. Poseidon stood by Percy, impaling monsters with his trident, and occasionally drowning them with water from the lake. Mars appeared by his son, commenting on Frank's bravery and skill as they took down a Cyclops.
Aphrodite showed up as well, which, surprisingly, didn't strike Annabeth as odd that the goddess of beauty was fighting in a bloody war. She and Piper sent a flurry of charmspoken commands at the monsters, making them do some seriously embarrasing things before Piper's dagger ended their life on earth.
Pluto joined Hazel, summoning an army of the undead to aid in the fight. Hephaestus stood by Leo, cutting through the monsters with his own flaming sword.
Jupiter appeared by Jason's side, frying the monsters to dust with his master bolt- just the sight of the destructive weapon brought back numerous memories for Annabeth.
And Athena stood side by side with Annabeth, planning a strategic way of obliterating all monsters in her path, easily demonstrating her title as the goddess of battle strategy.
The monsters' fury at their mother and leader being defeated slowly drained, replaced by fear of the demigods. The tables turned, and suddenly all the monsters seemed to be trembling in fear as they charged at the demigods, knowing well that their efforts were futile.
