XXIV- Reyna

Reyna was seriously starting to get sick of shadow traveling- both mentally and physically.

Traveling across an ocean using the literal shadows as a mode of transportation really took a toll on Reyna's head. Ans she wasn't even the one with the power to do so.

Yet, she still ended up dizzy as they made their last few 'jumps'.

It was safe to say she was overjoyed when Nico had announced that after one more shadow-travel jump, they would reach Camp Half-Blood. She was glad because for one, they would finally reach their destination, and two, no more shadow traveling.

Octavian- that no-good, attention-seeking Roman- would lead the legion in a battle against the Greeks, and they couldn't let that happen.

Based on dreams Reyna had been having recently (the few times they were actually able to sleep without the monsters ambushing them), the Romans had planned to attack the Greek camp that very afternoon.

It was around nine in the morning, in southern Florida. Reyna hoped that the few hours left gave Nico enough time to rest a bit before making the final jump.

As for Coach Hedge, the satyr was anxious to fight. He had spent the last two monster attacks knocked out (only a Cyclops' club was able to force the old, battle-loving goat out of a fight).

Reyna was keeping watch as Nico and Hedge slept. Hedge had protested at first, insisting that 'you cupcakes need your rest', but Reyna was stubborn. She couldn't bring herself to sleep; too many thoughts were racing around in her mind for sleep to be possible.

What if the Romans don't listen and keep fighting?

What if they don't reach Camp Half-Blood in time?

Would the legion even listen to her anymore?

She shook her head roughly. She had to think positive.

Minutes turned to hours, and before Reyna realized it, a nearby church bell rang, signaling eleven o' clock.

Reyna jumped at the startling noise, and turned to Nico, who was still curled up, fast asleep. Reyna wasn't surprised Nico could sleep through a sound like the bell- it must have been exhausting to shadow travel with two others, plus a giant statue.

"Nico," Reyna said, gently shaking the son of Hades' shoulder. "Wake up. Time to go."

Nico groaned and sat up, rubbing his eyes tiredly. "Eleven, already?"

Reyna nodded. "Get Hedge up. We have to get a move on if we want to get there in time."

Nico jumped to his feet and nudged the sleeping satyr.

Unfortunately, Nico didn't see the incoming hoof until it had rammed into his chest. The son of Hades flew back and slammed into the Athena Parthenos.

"Sorry, Cupcake," Hedge muttered as he pulled himself to his feet- er, hooves, and grabbed his club. "You should know I have quick reflexes."

Nico groaned from his spot by the statue. "Point taken."

Reyna rolled her eyes as she offered a hand to Nico, who grasped it as she pulled him up. "You okay?"

Nico nodded, sending a glare towards Hedge, who simply shrugged.

"And Coach," Reyna turned towards the satyr. "Try to avoid ninja-kicking people who could be our allies."

Hedge huffed. "Whatever."

Reyna turned back to Nico. "Ready?"

Nico took a breath. "Ready as I'll ever be. Let's go stop a fight."
