VIII- Percy

Was it possible to have a day without any problems? Apparently not.

After Annabeth's little announcement, everyone got quiet. That is, until Hazel spoke up.

"Where are they?" She asked quietly, obviously worried about her brother. "Annabeth, do you know where they are?"

Annabeth shook her head grimly. "No. I have no idea. I wish I knew, but I don't." she looked frustrated, and Percy knew why. Annabeth didn't like not knowing something.

Hazel put her head in her hands. "We have to help them." she said, her voice muffled. "But... how?"

Jason leaned back in his chair, obviously thinking. "We have no idea where they are, though. How can we help them?"

Percy shrugged. "We could try to Iris Message them...?"

Hazel lifted her head, and she grinned. "Of course! Anyone got a drachma?"

Leo pulled one out of his tool belt. "Here," he said, handing it to Hazel, who took it gratefully.

Hazel looked at Percy, who sighed, lifting his hands. The water that was in his cup turned into mist, and with the light filtering through the windows, a small rainbow formed.

Hazel grinned. "Perfect." She tossed the drachma into the rainbow, where it disappeared with a faint hiss. "Oh, Fleecy, do me a solid. Show me Nico di Angelo in... well, wherever they are."

The mist swirled, forming a blurry image. "Nico?" Hazel half-yelled.

The blurry image shifted, and all Percy could see were blobs of color.

"Ha--zel?" Nico's voice came back.

"Why is the connection so bad?" Percy wondered aloud.

"I dunno," Hazel replied. Then, louder, she asked, "Nico! Can you hear me?"

"No-t rea--lly." Nico's voice replied. "Ha-zel... he-lp..." The Iris Message turned white, no image at all.

"What happened?" Hazel asked, frantic. "Why can't I see Nico?"

Frank put a hand on Hazel's shoulder. "Hazel, calm down."

"How in Hades can I calm down when my brother is in trouble?!" Hazel demanded.

I am sorry, demigods. I cannot connect you to Nico di Angelo anymore. A soft voice said, coming from the blank Iris Message.

"Iris," Percy realized. "What do you mean, you can't connect us?"

I simply cannot get the message through to that destination. There is another force of magic stopping my powers from working. I apologize.

Hazel sighed, frustrated. "Gaea. It has to be Gaea." she looked at Annabeth. "Annabeth. You said Gaea led them into a trap?"

Annabeth nodded. "Yes. At least, that's what Gaea showed me."

"Great." Hazel muttered. She turned back to the blank Iris Message. "Thanks anyway, Iris."
