XXIII- Annabeth

Annabeth's peaceful sleep was shattered by her alarm clock.

Groaning, she fumbled with it, half blind with sleep, until she had managed to press the off button.

She sighed. 5:30 AM. She had a half-hour before she had to meet Enceladus.

And she was not looking forward to it.

She pulled herself out of bed, and was about to get ready for a day of giant-slaying when her alarm clock buzzed again.

Stupid snooze button.

"Oh, shut up, will you?" She muttered to her alarm clock, before pressing the actual off button.

"Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed," a voice said from her doorway.

She turned to see Percy, giving her a grin. "Haha, funny, Seaweed Brain."

Percy laughed, "Just came to tell you, breakfast is waiting for you. Come out when you're ready."

Annabeth frowned. "The others are up?"

Percy shook his head, "No. Just me. I wasn't about to let you go off on a giant-killing mission without breakfast... or a kiss for luck."

Annabeth laughed. "Of course not." She grabbed a change of clothes before turning back to Percy. "I'll be out in a sec."

Percy nodded, sending her one last grin before walking down the hallway.

After changing into a pair of jeans and a Camp Half-Blood t-shirt, Annabeth grabbed her ivory sword and slipped it into a sheath before fastening it to her belt.

Slipping her hair into a ponytail, she headed out of her room and down the hallway.

"You ready?" Percy asked her as she entered the kitchen.

Annabeth nodded. "Yep. All set."

"Good. Now eat." He pushed a plate towards her.

Annabeth had to grin. "Really, Percy? Blue waffles?"

He shrugged, "Don't judge. Food is so much better if it's blue."

Annabeth laughed, shaking her head. "Whatever you say, Seaweed Brain."

Quickly finishing the rest of her breakfast, Annabeth dropped the plate in the sink and gripped the hilt of her sword. "Alright. I should probably get going."

"Wait," Percy said, handing her a bag. "Thought you might need this."

Annabeth opened the bag to see a small baggie of ambrosia and a spare dagger. She smiled. "Thanks, Percy."

He followed her to the upper deck, where the gangplank was already lowered.

Percy pulled her in for a hug. "Be safe, okay?" He whispered. "I couldn't stand it if anything happened to you."

Annabeth pulled away, gripping his hands. "Be optimistic. It's just a giant. I've fought worse."

Percy still looked worried. "Still..."

"I'll be fine, okay?" Annabeth assured.

She was about to pull her hand from his grip when he said, "Hey, wait. You're not going anywhere without a kiss for luck." Annabeth rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything as Percy leaned in to kiss her.

When he pulled away, he put a hand on her cheek. "You better come back to me, Wise Girl."

Annabeth smiled and pulled away, watching as his hand dropped to his side. "I will."
