XXXIII- Hazel

When the footsteps sent tremors through the ground, Hazel knew she was in trouble.

She turned after slicing through a harpy, and found herself facing a forty-foot tall giant. He was just how Hazel remembered- golden skin; silver armor; a spear in hand; hair braided with rubies.

"Alcyoneus," Hazel growled.

The bane of Pluto laughed. "Hazel Levesque. What a delight it is to see you again."

"Yeah?" Hazel taunted. "You were so thrilled to be defeated by me that you just had to come back for more."

Alcyoneus narrowed his eyes. "I've come back, but this time, you will perish."

"We'll see about that," Hazel muttered. "You're out of Alaska, Alcyoneus! You're not immortal anymore!"

Alcyoneus shrugged indifferently. "No matter. I still have my mother to back me up. Gaea is destined to win. You, Hazel Levesque, are destined to die."

Hazel glanced around at the battlefield, searching for any of her friends. But she knew they had their own giants to fight, especially Percy and Jason. She would have to deal with Alcyoneus on her own.

"Believe what you want to believe, Alcyoneus," Hazel called up. "But I'm not listening to your schist."

Alcyoneus laughed, like Hazel was nothing more than a cute puppy. That infuriated her; Alcyoneus wasn't taking her seriously.

Hazel hated not being taken seriously. She found that most of her enemies didn't see her as being as powerful as her friends, just because of her age. Sure, she was younger than most of her friends, but that didn't matter to her anymore.

She had power; she had potential; and she was going to prove Alcyoneus wrong.

"Hey, Golden Boy!" She called up. "Come fight me and prove your not a coward! You've got no immoratlity. Still brave enough to fight me?"

Alcyoneus growled. "I am no coward, Hazel Levesque. Nothing will stop me from defeating you and your puny friends."

"Yeah?" Hazel retorted. "I'd have to say the same about you." Hazel focused on a necklace around Alcyoneus' neck. It was strung with precious gems and stones- Hazel's expertise. She raised her left hand, and made a fist, then pulled roughly.

The necklace around Alcyoneus' neck jerked forward, like an invisible hand was tugging at it. The giant stumbled forward, but caught himself before he could hit the ground.

The giant growled. "You will die!"

Hazel jumped back as Alcyoneus slammed his fist down, right where Hazel had stood only moments before. The ground trembled from the impact, and Hazel nearly lost her balance.

Hazel got her footing and lunged forward, stabbing the giant's hand with her spatha. She pulled the weapon out before Alcyoneus could swat her aside.

The giant roared in pain and annoyance, oil dripping from the wound. He drew his hand back, shaking off the dripping oil.

Hazel charged in, slashing her weapon against the giant's leg. As oil dripped down his foot, Alcyoneus lifted his leg before stomping it back down, attempting to crush Hazel. Hazel rolled out of the way, the giant's foot coming down barely inches away from her leg.

Hazel jumped to her feet as the giant's other foot came down, and she backed up, looking up at the glaring giant.

"GIve it up, demigod!" Alcyoneus roared. "It's hopeless!"
