~~Breaking Out~~

We ran for it down the corridor. I could hear silent cries of people. Not loud and painful... But worse. They were faint and heartfelt. I knew it was bad leaving everyone in there but I couldn't exactly risk Nate's life by trying to help everyone else escape.

"Stop!" Nick shout/whispered.

"What?" I asked.

"They moved Nate..." He tried to think.

"What? Where?" I asked him as he thought hard.

"This way." He took my wrist and pulled me through another door.

"Where are we?" I asked as we began to walk. When I said I could hear cries... This is where they were coming from.

"This is the 'Naughty Ward'... Pretty stupid being as they're the bad ones for doing this." He told me.

"Why do you work here if you don't agree?" I asked him.

"I need money for my family. This job pays well." He said.

"So you have kids?" I asked.

"Yeah. Twins. Jerome and Natalie." He handed me a picture from his pocket.

The picture was old and crumpled, like he carries it everywhere with him. On the picture was himself, a beautiful woman and two young children. They must have only been 5 or 6. Everyone was smiling. The two children had their arms around each other. They were twins, no doubt about it. Except that one was a girl and the other a boy there was no difference.

"You have a beautiful family." I handed the picture back to him.

"Thanks. What about yours?" He asked.

"Mine don't actually see sense in me running off with Nate. to be honest... They are why I ran off." I saddened at the fact that was true and I had only just realised.

"It's okay. your their daughter. Only one I assume. they will get over it. nothings more precious than love and family." He smiled and took me to a door and unlocked it.

"Nate." I said as he opened the door.

"Nate?" His face was bleeding as I ran up to him.

"What are you doing here?" He weakly asked.

"I needed you!" I said looking at the cut on his head.

"You didn't have to do that. I have it all under control." He said. I wasn't so sure.

"Because you look it." I unwrapped my bandana from my wrist and patted his bleeding head.

"Sorry to rush you, but I think I can hear someone." Nick warned us.

"Come on..." I took Nate's hand. He stood looking between myself and Nick.

"Nick?" Nate said.

"Nate. Long time no seen. I would have visited but the only time I get off I spend with my children." He apologised.

"No need. How are they?" He asked.

"Great. Thanks." I hurried them along and we headed out of the room.

"Shhhhh..." Nick ordered, and we followed.

"What is it?" I whispered.

"Time?" He asked.

"Its... 7:39pm... Why?" Nate informed.

"The guard should be off his guard now." He said hopeful.

"Why does that matter?" Nate asked.

"The glass wall." I more said to myself than anyone.

"Exactly." He smiled.

"What glass wall?" Nate asked.

"Instead of having an extra room for a front desk... Its basically just a glass wall where you go to sign in." Nick told Nate.

"So... There's a chance that we could get caught." Nate asked.

"Yeah... Come on." Nick said.

"No." I held him back.

"What?" The both said in unison.

"Nick, we can go. You need this job." I told him

"But Imoge-" I didn't let him finish.

"No, Family and Love comes first. Remember." I reminded him what he had told me.

"Okay. But promise me, you two will be safe! I will go and see if anyone is there and if there is distract them." He said.

"No Nic-" This time he didn't let me finish.

"This is my compromise." He smiled and hugged us both.

"Thanks Nick." Myself and Nate said to him.

"It's my pleasure. Tell your dad my family sends their love... And Imogen. It will be fine. Trust me." So many people have said trust me in the past few months... And Nick is one of the only few that have made me genuinely trust him, with no gaps.

"I do Nick... I do." I said then smiled.

"I will signal you, when to go." He told us then casually walked out in the open.

We waited and hid behind the wall. Only a single wall parting between freedom and lockdown... after a few seconds Nick gave us his signal to go. Still being paranoid we snuck round the side of the wall and hid behind a sign. Then carried on towards the door.

It had been three hours since I came in here... I was supposed to be in and out in two. I hope they hadn't gone. I hope that Kris would have just gave me more time. I know that the plan was 2 hours then leave... but I'm an 18 year old kid. Not a 28 year old fucking international spy.

I spotted the car as we ran for the door. I saw smoke coming from the rear and ran faster. Not wanting to shout or draw attention to myself I ran silently through the wooded area with Nate next to me. The engine of the car began and I could see them start to slowly drive away. We weren't far away but out of sight so is stopped and searched the floor.

"What are you doing?" Nate asked.

"Keep running see if you can catch them ill be there in a minuet." I told him, he hesitated then nodded and ran faster than before.

searching the floor I found a rock. It just fit into the palm of my hand. I had hoped that all the javelin and shot put lessons in Gym had paid off. I threw the rock will all strength at the car. It flew over Nate's head and his the car door just as they were about to leave.

Pulling over and getting out I continued to run to them. I ran to Kris. He had the biggest smile on his face when he saw us. I jumped on his and hugged him tightly.

"A rock? Really!" He laughed.

"You were going to drive away." I laughed.

"Good thinking Gen." Nate said, Jeremy let him go and I introduced Nate and Kris.

"Nate, this is Kristofferson. But you can call him Kris." I smiled.

"I've heard a lot about you Nate." Kris said shaking his hand.

"Well lets get you both out of-" A helicopter was heard taking off.

"We better go... and quick!" Kris said jumping into the car.

Myself and Nate got into the back. With Kris driving frantically as far away from the place as he could my heart was pounding in my chest. I felt something on my leg... It was Nate's hand. My heart calmed knowing he was here, with me, all the way.
