Day and Night

Chapter 15

Lukas looks at Maya and sighs. "I can't just 'move on' from how I felt... Feel about Jesse, Maya." Lukas says and Maya looks at him. "Y'know... You never fully told me who she was and how you felt about her." Her brown eyes focus on the blonde. "You'll have to start from chapter one and read to chapter 14." Lukas says and Maya just looks at him with pure confusions. "...I'll have to start from how we met... Three years ago, I was looking at the night sky for the first time. Somebody came up behind me as I admired the beautiful stars and I honestly figured it was you. I only thought it was you because of the girlish figure. It wasn't you... It was Jesse. I don't know why she was up there but she was. I told her my name but she left with out another word. She left me gifts every night for some reason and I still have every single one of them. One night she cane back and it was the night I learned her name. She was leaving a necklace on my balcony and as she turned around, I grabbed her arm. I didn't know what else to do. For all I had known, she may have never visited me again. We talked and I... I asked her to be my date to the sunset festival. She said yes. I wrote her a letter and she came later that day with her friend, Olivia. You know what happened... With the kiss and all. We couldn't just not see each other after that, I guess. We met in the one spot in the woods and each night, we became more enraptured with one another. Our parents caught us making out and... and..." Lukas bites his peach lip, hard. A red mark appears along with teeth marks. "And?" Maya puts a hand on his shoulder. "I haven't seen her since. I dream about her ever night and I raise the sun and set it ever day and evening just so I can see her beautiful moon and night. I miss her so much and I... I love her more than my words can even express!" Lukas says while blush spreads across his face. He does not notice that is Maya was grinning like a psychopath. He looks over at her and she smiles innocently. "It's time for the night. Have sweet dreams and I will see you tomorrow." Maya skips off toward her house but when she gets there, her smile turns into a nervous gulp. "A day and a night... Something tells me everything is about to go to hell..."

The sun slowly sets and the moon slowly rises. Jesse lets out a sigh as she watches the sun. A purple night emits from the palms of her hands. The moon takes over the sky and Jesse looks down. "I miss you Lukas... I hope you like the moon." The young adult walks down to the main area in the night kingdom. She finds her mother, Luna, talking to Petra in a secretive way. Jesse sneaks over and hides behind something so she can hear them.

"Queen Luna! We can't just do that!" Petra exclaims.
"We can and we will, Petra. Your like the daughter I never had and I expect you to be on my side." Luna puts a hand on Petra's shoulder. Jesse's heart sinks.
"But planning a war? That could mean total death on so many people." Petra says. 'War? War on who?' Jesse thinks to herself.
"I know Petra, but the day kingdom deserves it and we have to do it now. When Jesse is queen, and soft hearted none judgmental one at that, she will unite the kingdoms! We can not allow that. We need to defeat the day kingdom." Jesse gasps and both Luna and Petra looks at the hiding spot she was in. Petra walks over and Jesse covers her mouth in fear.
