Day and Night

Chapter 43

Lukas picks up Jesse and holds her in his arms. He didn't care about what he perviously said, he the glass shards had cut him, if people looked down upon him for this. All he cares about is Jesse and her safety. He stands up and goes to head out the birch wood door. Jesses arms fall to her side and everyone hears something hit the ground. Lukas, King Sean and Queen Solar all look down toward the sound. Queen Solar kneels over and picks up the object. "Huh... a locket..." She stands up and King Sean looks at her, "A locket?" He asks. She looks back, "Yeah, silver locket with a sun and a moon engraved on the front." She holds the locket before slowly opening it. Inside, she sees a small photo. A picture of Jesse's closest family.

While King Sean and Queen Solar talk to each other about what just happened and what it all could mean, Lukas carries Jesse out of the dark corridor. Jesse lays limp in his arms then she takes a soft, breathe. She slowly opens her green eyes and Lukas is walking to his room. Her eyes focus on him and only him. "..." She starts to blush then she says, "Lukas...?" A slight smile appears on her face as he looks down at her and says, "It's okay Jesse. I'm here.. You're okay." He smiles down at her before she tries to get out of his grasp. That notion only made Lukas hold onto her tighter. After a minute, Jesse gives up and looks at her clothes; Mayas clothes. While Jesse was out of it, apparently Maya had given her some clothing. Jesse lets out a soft but long sigh.

"Jadie, what did you find out?!" Luna growls loudly while pulling her black hair into a bun.
"Jesse went to the nature kingdom or to that area. She won't be a problem."
"The nature kingdom, eh?" Luna starts laughing, "Perfect. We attack at the full moon, when my powers are at their strongest!"

"...Remember who you are Jesse. You have the power of a night and the blood of a day coursing through your veins. I know you will make the right choice..." Jesse looks at her reflection in the mirror and she says what her father said. All her golden hair is pulled back into a braid so she could see her face. Besides a few cuts on her face from the glass, she saw her father and her mother. She looks so much like them yet she is nothing like either of them. "I have the power of a night and the blood of a day... power of a night... I know how night powers work!" Jesse gasps to herself and opens a window before looking at the sky. There was no moon in the sky but no sun. It was just dark blue and red along the horizon. Jesse closes her eyes, "A nights power worked best on a full moon... and that means..." Jesse looks up at the sky and takes a deep breathe, "We have three days."
