Day and Night

Chapter 27

Lukas wakes up, his hair is all messy and all over the place but Jesse is not by his side. The blonde sits up and yawns. "Mmm... Good morning Je... Jesse?" Lukas looks around his room and Jesse is gone. 'Okay. Jesse is gone but her clothes are still here...' He looks at her black shirt and blue overalls with the golden swirls. The blonde looks at his door as it opens, expecting it to be Jesse but instead it is his mother. "Morning, Lukas." She says, happily. Almost to happily. King sean walks up behind her, with a grin on his face. "Morning son." He says in his deep voice. "Um mom... dad... Where is Jesse?" He looks at his parents. They look at each other then back at Lukas. "Your father is sending Jesse back to her home, the night kingdom tonight. He figured he'd let her explore the town one last time before she left." Lukas freezes up as his mother says that. Her smile turns into an unwanted frown. "What?! No! You can not send Jesse away! Her mother will kill her!" Lukas stands up and looks at his parents. "Son, she is endangering all of the day kingdom by just living here." King Sean growls and Lukas crosses his arms. "No! She is not endangering anyone! You just won't let her stay because you don't trust her! If anything, she has been good luck! She is trying to save us and you are acting like she is the grim reaper or the ender dragon!" Lukas growls and puts on a shirt. "Where are YOU going?" His father growls. "With Jesse. I am staying with her and you can not stop me." He yells before storming out. Solar and Sean look at each other.

While Lukas walks around town, looking for Jesse, Jesse was helping the townsfolk. Well... Trying to help the towns folk. Every person she went up to ignored her, or stared her down. She lets out a big sigh and sits down on a rock at the side of the lake. "Just face it Jesse. No one will ever like you except for Lukas... and maybe Maya." She looks at the water before raising her hand. Black poofs of smoke appear in her hand and the water starts to rise. Two little people shapes start to appear in the floating water and Jesse watches them as they seemingly talk to each other. Her concentration suddenly breaks when a small voice says, "woah! Thats so cool!!!" The water splashes back into the lake and the black poofs go away. Jesse looks at the small figure then she grins. "Hi, James Prescott." The little boy smiles. "Just James, miss... I heard you say your name was Jesse." He sits next to her and they both look at the lake. "I never got to see the night time before." James says and Jesse sighs, while looking at her hands. "I grew up in the night time. In fact, I used to raise the moon and every night me and my friends would visit here and I would use my magic to help us. I stopped so I could sa... see the day. I decided the world needs change and I am going to do my best to give that change."

After a while, Jesse and James are laughing like they are old friends. All they can hear is their laughter. Thats when Jesse notices it. The whole kingdom was quiet. No animals, no people, no talking or laughing. Just quiet. And not the peaceful kind of quiet either. It was like everyone was hiding from something. Jesse catches a quick glimpse of  Lukas before he suddenly gets grabbed and pulled into the castle. James looks at Jesse after looking down the road. Jesse looks back at the young boy and his eyes are filled with fear. "Jesse, something is here... something scary."
