Day and Night

Chapter 31

King Sean holds Jesse in his arms as his horse runs as fast as it can back to the day kingdom. The night terror runs besides his horse. Each second, King Sean starts to realized what had just happened and that Jesse most likely just saved his life. He looks down at Jesse, and notices her body is more pale than before and very limp. "Don't you die on us now" He says, with worry in his voice. For the first time, he was actually caring about Jesse. He cares for her like she is his daughter. As they get closer to the day kingdom, King Sean puts his right hand on her head. "C'mon Jesse. Wake up" A yellow light emits from the palm of his hand and glows against Jesses forehead. He breathes then they all enter the day kingdom. He gets off his horse and holds Jesse in his arms as he runs to the palace. As he enters, he yells "Solar! Lukas! I need your help!"

Lukas runs down a flight of stairs, his mother following slowly behind him. When Lukas sees Jesse, he gasps and runs over to his father, "What the hell happened?!" He yells as he pulls Jesse out of the kings arms and into his own. The king looks at Lukas then his wife as she enters the room in her baby blue silk night gown. He is almost speechless but all he can say is, "She saved my life." Queen Solar walks over to King Sean and looks at him, "What happened?" She asks in her sweet voice. Before the king could answer, Lukas growled. "Who cares what happened! We need to save Jesse, right now!" Lukas runs up to the room Jesse is staying. King Sean and Queen Solar follow close behind. When he lays her on the bed, he gasps. "What is it, Lukas?" Solar looks at Jesse before gasping as well. Each strand of her beautiful back hair starts turning to a bright shade of gold, but it was not because of what King Sean did. It was because of Luna.

Eventually, Jesse wakes up and the room is filled with warmth from the sun. She slowly opens her eyes and looks around. "Where am I?" She asks herself. Her voice is quiet and kind of raspy. She sits up before noticing Lukas is asleep in a chair and there is a open book in his lap. "Lukas..?" She looks at him before rubbing her eyes. Before another word is uttered from her mouth, she feels a sudden pain in her head. Her hand grabs that area that is in pain then she notices a fabric on the area that is like a cloth or a bandage. Jesse scans the room for a mirror of any kind then she finds a hand mirror on the nightstand next to her. She picks it up and looks at her reflection. Her face turns pale as she looks at herself. She looks like herself, only... Different. Has golden blonde hair that shines like the sun and a pink nightgown, made of silk on her body. She looks like a day. "What happened?" She asks herself as the bedroom door opens. King sean walks in, with a tray. He looks at Jesse, shocked. "Your up?! You should be in bed right now!" He puts the tray down and goes to the blonde girl, "Jesse, are you o—" He gets cut off by Lukas, who yawns and rubs his eyes. "Dad, stop talking... your going to wake up— JESSE!" Lukas stands up and runs over to Jesse, hugging her tightly. Jesse blushes slightly before hugging back and rubbing her face against his neck. Lukas breathes and whispers in Jesse's ear, "Don't you ever do that again..."

After a while, Lukas and Jesse are alone in his room, relaxing. Jesse closes her eyes and breathes, "You okay?" Lukas looks at her.
"I lost my mother. I really did."
"Jesse, what happened at the night kingdom?" He puts her lift hand under her chin, making her look at him.
"I can't lie to you Lukas... The night kingdom has changed. My mother has changes. She is... Evil. She tried to kill King Sean and I saved his life..." Jesse looks down at her feet then Lukas kisses head head.
"I'm so sorry you had to go through that... Hey, I have a surprise for you" Lukas says as he walks out to his balcony.
"What is it?" Jesse stands up and follows him.
Lukas grins, "You'll see"

They both look at each other lovingly, then Lukas boosts Jesse onto the roof. When she is up there, Lukas jumps and grabs her hand. Using his upper body strength, he pulls himself onto the roof. Jesse helps then they both look at the sky. "Looks like my parents are setting the sun tonight." He says then he looks at Jesse, "That means its my cue," Jesse says softly as she raises her right hand to the sky. The moon does not rise though as the sky goes dark. Jesse sighs and looks down, "Great, when Luka struck me... she took all my powers..." Jesse sighs again, deeply. Lukas looks at her before an award silence sweeps over him. Soon, Lukas breathes, "I love you, Jesse" He smiles then looks at the rising moon. "Looks like my mother still cares about her job as queen." She says sarcastically. They both look at each other then look away. Both of them are blushing like morons.

Eventually, Lukas holds Jesse's hand as they sit together, alone on the roof they first met on. Jesse leans her head against Lukas' shoulder as her new golden blonde hair blows slightly from the soft breeze. Lukas slowly looks at Jesse before taking a deep breathe. The moon light shines down on them as Lukas says, "Jesse, can we talk?" He slowly pulls away from her and she looks at him, "What is it, Lukas?" There is a nervousness in Lukas' eyes as he reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a golden ring that has a diamond and an emerald fused together, making a beautiful stone, "Jesse, even though our time reunited has been short... I've come to realize that I can't imagine my life without you, especially after today, and I want you in my life forever," he holds out the ring toward her, "Jesse, will you become my queen?"

A) "Yes!"
B) "I'm sorry, Lukas.. I can't"
