Chapter 22

"Don't worry, Jesse! I completely understand." Lukas says with a nervous smile on his face. Jesse sighs. "It hurts... but it had to be said... Lukas, I l... I missed you and I'm glad we are finally together again but still... We should focus on being just friends for now." They both look at the floor then Lukas grabs her hands. Jesse looks up and opens her mouth as if she were gonna say something. Lukas puts a finger on her lips. "I'll take you to your room." He walks her down a hallway to a guest bedroom. "T-Thank you..." Jesse says when the door opens. She grabs his face and plants a friendly kiss on his cheek. Lukas stands frozen and Jesse giggles. "Goodnight, Blondie." She grins. When the door shuts, Lukas puts a hand on his cheek. He walks back to his room aimlessly. He yawns and lays in his bed. Not even changing out of his clothes, he falls asleep.

'Why did I say we should be friends... I love him... But I refuse to put him in any more danger.' Jesse sits on the guest bed and removes a hair clip from her black hair. It is midnight blue and has crystals that look like stars. When she received it, her mother said "This is for you. So you'll never forget where you belong." 'I don't belong there... not anymore.' She holds the clip in her hand and opens the window. "Goodbye Luna." She throws the clip as far as she can. The moon light glistens on the clip as it his the ground. Jesse watches the clip then she lays in her bed. 'Tick tock Tick tock Tick tock' She groans in frustration when she can't sleep. She sits up and looks in a mirror. "How the hell can I sleep when I know that my mother could strike anytime..." Jesse sits up and watches a wall. 'It'll be fine. I will do anything to protect them no matter what anyways...' Jesse slowly lays back down. Her eyes shut and she drifts off into a slumber. "Jesseeeeeeee..." A small voice says.

"Escaped?! Your majesty, there is no way she escaped!" Petra says in a loud voice.
"You heard me! My daughter escaped, under YOUR watch Petra!" Queen Luna yells with purple eyes.
"Your majesty? I... We have some news." Axel says as him and Olivia walk up.
"Tell me this news." Luna looks at the two people.
"Well, we tracked her and--" Axel looks at Olivia.
"We tracked her to the day kingdom." Olivia says and Luna screams in anger.

Jesse sits straight up, sweat running down her forehead. Her heart is racing and she can hear a ringing in her ears, along with some screaming. "No... this isn't possible... I threw away the clip... I shouldn't be able to hear my mother..."
