"CHRISTINE!"
"MOMMY!" I pick up Miguel and run to my parents. I give Miguel to my dad and give my mom a tight embrace. She kisses my cheek as I dO hers. I do the same with my dad as Miguel greets my mom. "How have you guys been?"
"I was finally able to get out of the office to go on this trip. But-"
"You brought your work with you," I finish giving her a look.
"You know her. Can never put down her work," my dad sighs with a side smile.
"Well, I'm glad you guys are here," I say taking one of the luggages. I lead the way outside to take a taxi. "How was the flight?"
"Long. There was this lady who liked to put her foot up on my arm rest from behind. Even if I would hit it constantly she wouldn't budge until the stewardesses came by," my mom tells me in annoyance. "Seriously I was close to telling her off."
I look at my dad and he nods shaking his head. "Some people have no regard. If they wanted more comfort then they should have paid more."
"You're telling me," my mom scoffs. I hide my smile as I feel a sense of nostalgia. There would be times growing up where I would cuddle up to her in bed or on the couch and she would just tell me about her day.
"You haven't gotten a car?" my dad asks as the taxi driver starts putting in the luggages.
"I travel just fine with bus and taxis, Father," I sigh. I thank the taxi driver and give him my address. "Are you sure you guys will be fine squeezing in at my place?"
"Of course! It will make it a lot easier! We will get to see you everyday and we can even help watch Miguel!" my mom says happily.
"If you guys feel stuffy I know a great hotel at a great location. I have friends there who work there," I tell them.
"We will tell you if anything, but I don't think that is necessary," my dad reassures me. "Are you sure you're okay taking the couch?"
"Of course! Trust me I once had everyone at my place sleeping over. I had to take the floor of my own room," I laugh as I recall the event.
"Everyone?" my mom asks.
"Yeah everyone. The boys, Jen, Brian, Cassidy, Lara, Marco and Aaron. We had a little reunion," I tell them. My dad turn around from the front and looks at me excitedly.
"How is everyone?! I haven't heard about them in a long time!" my dad asks.
"They're doing great. The boys are still the boys, but the others are a bit shaky with stress and getting places," I explain to them.
"Well, that's understandable. In that type of line of work it's hard to balance everything," my dad nods.
"How about you? how are you?" my mom asks. Miguel has since laid his head on her lap as she rubs his back to help him sleep.
"Everything is great. The job at the station has really boosted my moral as I stay here," I smile. "Everything really has been taking a turn in the right direction. I just feel it! Time really solves everything."
"I'm glad, Christine," my mom gives a proud smile.
"How's Mark?" my dad asks. I smile at his name.
"He's great. The boys and him have been traveling around and really working hard," I say.
"Sorry, wrong question. How are you and Mark?" dad chuckles. I blush and my mom lightly pushes my arm.
"We're fine. Everything is great. Despite our busy schedules we manage to hang out-"
