"CHRISTINE!" I finish tying up the banner and wipe my sweat. I turn and find Eric. All of the fatigue washes away.
"ERIC!" I exclaim. I hop off the table and attack him in a tight embrace.
"Ew! You're all sweaty!" he whines. I laugh and slap his shoulder.
"Hey, try setting up a whole booth by yourself," I breath out. I wipe my sweat with a towel. He chuckles and looks at the booth.
"You've got your own show. Congrats," he smiles. "I'm actually going to Korea soon to promote some new stuff. Maybe I can see you!"
"That'd be awesome! I'd offer to pick you up but I don't drive," I chuckle. "How's the 'ole station working for you?"
"When everyone heard what had happened it's been very hostile working there. A lot of the women started quitting. It's starting to fill up on testosterone," he sighs. "Is it only you?"
"It's very early in the build up. They couldn't really afford the trip, but it was highly requested that I come," I explain. "They worked out a compromise with Mnet and if I help host some things they would pay for my ticket. I just had to work with lodging- which was no problem as I can live with my parents. It's going to be a busy weekend, but I'm glad to be back here in LA."
"Well, good for you," he smiles. "You're going to get that tan back. LA's been hotter than ever. There's a heat wave traveling around."
"I know! I was finally able to lighten up a bit," I chuckle. "Korea is definitely a place that makes you want to lighten up."
"I could imagine. Did you get sucked into getting some treatments done?" he asks. I move to finish with displays and he doesn't bat an eye to help. This is why I miss him.
"As if!" I scoff. "I make enough to live. I'm done being supported. I owe a lot to him."
"Oh right. You were able to start up because of the famous-" I shush him to keep him quiet. "What? Don't want the world to know you were scouted and you denied. That they begged you to sign into their company and finally compromised to let you do your own thing as long as you help inside the company when needed?"
"Hey," I pout. "The process of signing did not start from the best place. He's been great in supporting what I want to do. I've returned him favors by helping with demos. I even took some classes with the trainees in order to get competent to even step into the studio. The most I've done was the more recent performances by his artists. The stage presence and overall picture. I owe him a lot more than what he has given me."
"Right, of course," Eric sighs.
"Christine?" An employee calls my name.
"Yes?" I ask. I wipe my hands and forehead again and walk up to him.
"They're calling you on stage 8," he tells me as he looks down on his clipboard. "I think you will be an MC."
"Oh, okay," I nod. I look over at Eric. "Could you watch my booth?"
"Sure, I have nothing better to do," he nods. "Take care!"
"Thank you!" I wave and follow the employee. "Do you know who I will be introducing?"
"I think you are going to be working with Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk for the first day," he reads. My eyes widen and my heart pounds. THE Super Junior's Donghae and Eunhyuk. I get sponsored and I get to work with the legendary two. My weekend has been made. I don't even care if no one goes to my booth. I get to spend an hour or two with them!
