"So what I was thinking... Maybe we could go there?"
She looked up thoughtfully.
"Well, you said they were hostile."
"Yes, but now you're wingless! And..." He realized he had completely forgotten about the advantage of his peculiar wings, but now didn't seem like the time to mention it.
"What is that? Something else?"
Cosmo gathered all his thoughts into one. Now that he knew the truth, it was time to reveal it.
"Ivy... You remember my illness?"
"Of course I do."
"Well, it isn't an illness."
She stood up.
"What do you mean?"
"It saved my life. I was falling and the wings caught me."
"You mean, it's like a self-preservation instinct?"
Cosmo thought about it and got happier. Ivy had chosen just the right words for it.
"Exactly."
"Wonderful!" She grinned, pulling Cosmo on the couch. "So it's actually meant to help."
"Yes."
"So it's a gift after all. Huh, interesting. Never thought of that before."
"Me neither. So what about... The village?"
She stared at Cosmo.
"You've always been a risk taker," he added. "But this is going to be, like, the biggest risk of your life. But we must do it."
Ivy started breathing louder. Cosmo's hand trembled slightly in anticipation, but it wasn't enough for the wings to appear.
"Well, I'm in. Let's see what Willow says."
Cosmo jumped up. He was ready to run around and yell in ecstasy, but what they were about to go through would be hard. That was for sure. Instead he leaned back and enjoyed the adrenalin bubbling up inside. He seemed to be turning into a risk taker.
And even if they all were never accepted, they would still have Archer. Cosmo acknowledged that they would see each other again.
"Willow!" Ivy called. Chaotic, excited breathing and hurried steps were heard.
"What?"
"We're planning to go to Laora," Cosmo announced. "It'll be dangerous, but we gotta try."
Willow squealed, running for his backpack.
"I'll have to write a note," Ivy approached the table and grabbed a pen. Cosmo nodded at her chaotically and proceeded to look back at Willow.
"Guess I'm also gonna pack my bags," he walked upstairs, leaving Ivy alone. She leaned over the table, not bothering to sit down.
"We'll leave tomorrow, alright?" He yelled from upstairs.
"Okay!"
