They passed by a few houses. Sleep was trying to get to Cosmo, but he fought back. He'd only slept for a miserable two hours. He hadn't been getting enough sleep way too frequently lately; he imagined that it must have been even tougher for Willow. Yet the child was confident, walking at a quick pace, even a few centimeters in front of Cosmo.
"Cosmo?"
It was a male voice, harsh and familiar. He took a step closer. Ivy stopped in surprise, then got into a position of preparing to run.
A man approached them.
"Mr. Turner... Why are you here?"
He heard a loud chuckle.
"I'd like to ask you the same thing."
"I know him," Cosmo looked at Ivy, who still looked skeptical.
"Assume that's your sister."
"Yes, um..." Again, he was unsure if he could trust anyone again. He must have been connected to the scam somehow. "She still got her wings clipped. Could you explain please? Do... Do you know something?"
Ivy stepped forward, slightly annoyed. Cosmo put his hand out in front of her. She calmed down as she heard Mr. Turner speak.
"I know nothing. Honestly," His tone was now apologetic rather than uncaring. "I'm just a driver for hire. Now explain why you're out here alone."
"It's none of your business," Ivy burst out, grabbing Cosmo by the wrist and pulling him across the street. Mr. Turner looked away.
"Who was this?" She demanded.
"The man who drove us to Laora. He said he wasn't related to that stuff!"
"We shouldn't be talking to him."
He looked away to see the man taking on the phone, then looked back at Ivy. She sighed and kept walking.
"Need a lift?"
It was him again.
"Yes, please!" Willow screamed. Cosmo hushed him.
"I just got an order cancelled."
"We have no money," Ivy made up an excuse.
"For free, then. Won't fall asleep anyway."
"To Neva!" Cosmo called out, than winked at his sister.
"It's fine, I promise."
"Have our parents told you not to trust strangers?" She snapped.
"He's not a stranger. He's a bit harsh, but fine."
She grunted as she entered the car. Cosmo himself got a nervous, bubbling feeling inside his stomach.
