The Golden Ball
•••
Everyone in the pack were gathered inside the meeting room. The meeting room was a big room with hundreds of chairs, one for each member of the pack. Everyone was chatting and talking about what happened earlier with the rogues.
Infront was a low stage that had a podium in the middle and a microphone. They waited for their Alpha, patiently
The room was elegant in an old fashioned way. Everything about this house was old fashioned. Grey never changed a single thing about it, because to him,
It was perfect
This place that he called home was perfect to him
Everyone in the room went silent when they heard the footsteps of their Alpha
Grey stood behind the microphone with so much poise and confidence. He placed his hands on top of the podium and looked at everyone
"Good Afternoon" He said "As we all know, several rogues attacked our pack an hour ago" He scanned the whole audience to make sure that everyone was listening. Even the pups in the pack were listening to him. "According to one of our fighters, there were twenty rogues"
"Eighteen of them were killed, two of them escaped" Some of the people in the audience started whispering-asking each other how the rogues got away. Grey looked at his fighters that were sitting in the front row behind his Beta, Emma and Lily "Do any of you know why they attacked?" Grey asked, looking at his fighters
One of his fighters raised his hand. Grey looked at him with his eyebrow raised "Speak" He commanded "Before killing he last rogue, I asked him what he wanted from our pack" The man said "Then he started laughing. He said they wanted nothing from our pack" Grey stared at him, listening to every word he was saying
"They only want the girl" Grey felt his inner demon threatening to come out. His fighter did not say the name of the girl that the rogues want but something inside him was telling him that he already knew who the rogues were after "Who?" Grey asked darkly, he felt his eyes darkening. The man looked at Grey nervously "I'm sorry, Alpha. But the rogue did not mention a name. I tried to ask him but he just kept on laughing so I snapped his neck"
Grey wanted to twist the neck of his fighter for failing to answer his question but he calmed his self down before doing something that he won't regret but his pack will be disappointed for
"From now on, all of the fighters and protectors of this pack will guard the perimeter twenty four seven. Exactly one hundred fighters will surround the perimeter and guard this territory with their life, is that clear?"
"Yes Alpha" All of the fighters said in unison "The rest will surround the pack house. If anything suspicious happens, Immediately report it to me, if I'm not around then immediately report it to your Beta, understood?" He said with authority "Yes, Alpha" They said in unison, again
"You are all dismissed" Grey said. Everyone stood up and walked out of the meeting room. Cole, Emma and Lily didn't leave the room. They all looked at Grey who was walking down the stage, deep in thought. "You think they are after Alex?" Lily asked making Grey glare at her. Lily raised her arms "We all know they're after her"
Lily was the only pack member who didn't fear Grey that much since she is his sister. She was more than confident that her brother wouldn't hurt her. She loved her brother more than anything. Grey took care of her and made her who she is-something that their parents didn't do
"But why would they go after her?" He asked calmly but his sister knew that deep inside, his brother was pacing back and forth with stress lines on his forehead. But his brother remained calm and relaxed "Maybe they know?" Cole said, thinking deeply "But that's impossible. Nobody knows but you three" He said, looking at the three of them "Did any of you-"
"Don't even go there, Grey" Emma warned "You know we wouldn't do that to you" Grey just nod "I know" Lily wrapped an arm around her brother and gave him a warm smile "How about we put the problems aside for a moment and plan the upcoming anniversary ball?" Emma's eyes lit up when she heard what Lily said "Oh my God. I totally forgot about that! I hope this year's anniversary would be awesome! If you need any help with anything, Grey, we got you covered" Emma said with excitement.
Every year their pack throws a massive ball to celebrate their pack anniversary. They invite all of the packs around the world to their anniversary party.
Grey moved away from his sister and walked to leave the room "I got it. I don't need help" He said seriously then closed the door behind him. The three exchanged looks "His pride is sometimes way too much even for me" Lily said, massaging her temples. Cole chuckled and placed his arm around his mate, Emma "Let's go check on Alex, shall we?" Cole looked at the two girls. They both nod and left the room with Cole.
"Let's just hope she's more calm and collected this time"
