Countdown

"A countdown? A countdown for what?" I said suddenly feeling even more frightened and nervous about my situation.

"That, I don't know. But it makes sense right? First, he gave you a number three and we didn't have the slightest clue who this person was, what his gender is, how old he is then the day after that which is today, you received a number two but this time he actually showed his self, Alex. We know that this person is a man but that's pretty much it"

"Everyday, he gives you these numbers and for me it's a countdown and something tells me in the end he's finally going to show his self, we need to be alert and prepared for that" All of it started making sense, the dots were finally slowly connecting, not all of them but some of them were. I still had lots of question running like crazy inside my head like who was this person, what did he want from me, why was he doing this. And honestly, I knew that if I wanted to get the answers to my questions, I needed to face this guy

I need to talk to him

But that's the thing, I don't want to see him

I don't want to come near him

Just the thought of being inside a room with this lunatic made my heart beat a million times faster

I sucked a deep breath when I realized something

"John?" I whispered

"Yeah?" He replied softly

"I got number two earlier...."

We both remained silent

Nobody said anything

We just both let the realization sink in

That I could possibly receive the last number tomorrow

That this man was going to show up and I don't know when or where

"I'll be with you tomorrow"

...

You'll be okay

You'll be safe as long as you don't leave this house

Don't let him get into you

You got this, Alex

I continued to whisper calming and soothing words to myself with my arms wrapped around myself. My grip on the thick comforter tightened when my conversation with John entered my mind again.
