"Alex!"

"Alex! You better open your god damn eyes because I aint leaving without answers. Wake up!" I groaned and swatted the hand that was shaking me violently. I heard a soft groan and then nothing.

Whoever that person was must've left

I was slowly falling back into a deep sleep when I roughly fell off the bed with a loud thud making my eyes open wide. I landed on the floor with an awkward position and quickly sat on the floor to glare at the person who woke me up.

"Rise and shine" Lily said with a sheepish smile on her face "What time is it? And what are you doing here?" I asked rubbing my sore knee that landed harshly on the floor. I looked at my knee and saw a red bumb already forming

"Well excuse me for being so excited but the whole pack is literally talking about you and Grey" I felt my sleepiness fade away quickly "Wait what? why?" I asked nervously. Lily crosses her legs and smirked "Last night, you managed to calm my brother down and believe me when I say that no one has ever done that, like ever. Plus, both of you went inside the pack house, together. News spread fast, you know" I felt my cheeks turn red and I looked away to hide it from Lily. I slowly got up from the floor and sat on the bed "What happened last night, Alex?" Lily asked with curiosity and excitement shining in her eyes. I looked at her and told her everything

"Mate?" I whispered to myself but since Grey wasn't a normal human being, he heard what I said. He looked at me and saw the surprised look that was plastered on my face. Something inside him switched then he slowly started backing away while shaking his head softly "Wait" I said, reaching out to him but he flinched "No" He said with a firm voice making my hand stop

"What did you say?" I asked "I said no" Grey said harshly "No before that, you said the word ma-"

"I said nothing" He said harshly with a cold tone making me cower back. He glares at me for a few seconds then looks away. We both remained silent and listened to each others harsh breathing

"Let's get out of here" He said quietly while walking towards the door. I looked at him and thought for a moment if I should follow him or be stubborn and tell him that we werent going anywhere unless he told me the truth

Grey turns around and looks at me with his cold gray eyes "Are you coming or would you rather sleep here?" I quickly walked and stood beside him while looking at the floor. We both stood infront of the door waiting for someone to open the door. After a few minutes we heard a click then the door opened slowly. When the door was wide open, I saw atleast six guards standing on each side of the door holding what seemed like silver chains. When they saw Grey and I they quickly hid what they were holding and bowed

"Alpha" They all greeted in unison. Grey stared at them and gave them a small nod "Thank you for tonight, you may leave now" They all nodded and left quickly, leaving us alone, again.

I looked at Grey with uncertainty and nervousness

What am I supposed to do now?

I started thinking of ways on how I can break the awkward tension but the sound of a long and deep inhale pulled me out of my thoughts.

I looked at Grey who was already looking at me with an expressionless face which only made me feel even more nervous

"Thank you" Grey said slowly and awkwardly. I looked at him with wide eyes and nodded quickly "Its nothing really" I said quietly, looking down on the floor. He sighs "Why'd you do it?" He asked, crossing his arms making his biceps pop "What do you mean?" I asked trying to glue my eyes on his face, avoiding his perfectly toned biceps

"I could've killed you and something tells me that you knew that that could've happened. So why?" I gulped letting his question sink in

He was right

Deep down I knew that in one snap he can kill me

But deep down

I just knew that he wouldn't

"I just knew that you wouldn't" I said softly. I heard a low growl making me flinch "Are you saying that I'm not capable of killing you?" He said walking closer to me. I shake my head quickly and looked at him in the eye "No, that's not what I meant"

"Then what are you trying to say?"

"That you needed someone" I blurted out without thinking. He looked at me with confusion and curiosity evident on his face. I released the breath that I didnt know that I was holding slowly

"I know that you can kill me anytime you want, believe me I already got that" I said quietly, looking at him "But earlier, I saw and I knew that that time it didn't matter. You were feeling something inside you that you couldn't control, that's why you were so angry. Or maybe you wanted to do something but something was stopping you..."

From the look on his face, I knew that I was getting to something

"And what exactly is that?" Grey asked quietly, breathing heavily while looking at me straight in the eye. I shook my head slowly "You tell me, Grey" I said softly "Because honestly? What I saw inside that room?" I pointed at the room that he was locked in earlier "Wasn't a monster" I said slowly so that he could hear every word "I saw a man, a lonely man who's holding himself back from showing who he truly is"

I jumped when I heard a loud bang and realized that Grey punched the wall behind me leaving a huge dent on the wall. He glares at me "This is the real m-"

"Save it, Grey!" I yelled. Deep inside, I was surprised and scared because of my actions. Where was this confidence coming from?

"Go ahead, keep convincing yourself and your pack members that this is you, that you're a monster, a selfish demon but guess what?" I said, walking closer to him "You're not going to fool me" I said with a firm voice.

He looks at me with an expression that I couldn't read. He opened his mouth to say something but he quickly shuts his mouth and walks away

I looked at his back and sighed

"Oh my God" Lily said slowly "I cannot believe that the Grey King just did that" Her face had an expression that I couldnt and I saw tears forming in her eyes "Are you okay?" I asked with a worried tone. She looked at me and nodded slowly

I was about to ask her if she was sure but I was cut off when she tackled me with a hug

"Thank you, Alex. Thank you" She whispered softly making my heart warm. I slowly wrapped my arms around her too and nodded "There's still hope, Alex" She said with disbelief in her tone

And I suddenly remembered that in a few days, I will be executed by the same man that I was with last night

"Alex, we need to move fast" I looked at her with confusion

"We only got three days til the ball"
