Chapter 26: True Love Waits

Zoey's POV

Sa lahat ng ayoko, 'yung pinipilit ako. 'Yung nagpapaawa. Pero may point si Dani, utak ko nalang ang gustong parusahan siya. Nirerepresent niya lahat ng nanakit sa akin.

Nakabalik na siya sa school pero hindi niya pa rin ako nilalapitan. Nasa classroom ako at naghihintay matapos ang lunch break nang tumunog ang phone ko.

"Hello Good Afternoon, is this Gen Mercado? "

"Yes, who's this?"

"It's Bianca, your elementary classmate, remember?" I actually don't.

"Oh, hello. What's up?"

"I've been meaning to offer you a project as a model for our new fitness drink product." Nagulat ako sa pagka straight forward niya.

"Sounds interesting, tell me more." Sinabi niya sa akin ang concept na gusto nilang ipromote ang fitness pa rin sa mga teenagers since mostly ng nasa commercials eh mga adults na. Hindi naco-consider na many teenagers today face obesity that could actually harm their health. Binigay ko ang number ni Mom para siya mismo ang kumausap at pumirma ng contract on my behalf since hindi pa ako legal.

Pumasok sa classroom si Nat at inirapan lang ako. Hindi niya na rin ako kinakausap simula noong nagkasakit si Nathan. Nagsawa na rin siguro siya sa pakikipag away sa akin lalo na't alam niyang hindi naman siya mananalo.

"Excited na ba kayo dahil malapit na kayong mag -graduate?", tanong ni Ms. Sanchez. Siyempre naman! " Before that happens, please do expect a lot of seminars and orientations about careers and different topics for your personal growth. First would be the True Love Waits Seminar."

True Love waits seminar? Apparently, this seminar is wildly popular for senior students in the Philippines. Bukas na daw ito, from 8 AM to 12 PM.

"Ugh, ang boring.", sabi ni Dani. "Sasabihan lang tayong masyado pa tayong bata para magka- jowa. I don't need that negativity in my life."

"Wala kang magagawa, kailangan natin mag-attend doon."

Nararamdaman ko nang malapit na kaming mag-graduate sa dami ng kailangang puntahang mga events. Magb-business administration ako sa college, atleast may isa na akong na figure out sa buhay ko.

Sumunod na araw, napuno ang auditorium ng mga senior students. Nagsimula ang seminar at sobrang boring nga. Sinabi lang dito na hindi dapat minamadali ang love, hindi dapat puro puso ang ginagamit, dapat may utak din. Dapat kung papasok sa relationship, hindi na umaasa parents. Paano mo 'yan sasabihin sa mga estudyanteng may silver spoon sa bunganga?

"When someone you love betrays you, its a hundred times more painful than someone you don't care about. It's normal to feel pain and to feel hatred for that person. "Hindi ko na kaya, matutulog na ako.", sabi ni Dani at pumikit na mata niya. Tumingin ako sa likod at todo ang pakikinig nung tatlong lalaki. Napatingin sa akin si Nathan and he mouthed the words, "True Love Waits." Inalis ko kaagad ang tingin ko, ang bilis nanaman ng tubok ng puso ko.

Kung anu-ano pang mga advice ang ibinigay nila at halatang bagot na ang halos kalahati ng mga estudyante.

"True Love Waits doesn't mean that your True Love is the one who patiently waited for a long time because if we stick to that premise, we will assume that those who gave up didn't experience True Love at all. No, this is more about you. True Love waits meaning there are many things in this world other than finding a romantic relationship. Don't go around the world seeking it, just go along your path and let it come to you. Thank you very much for listening, have a great day.", sabi nung speaker at nagpalakpakan na ang audience.

"Tapos na?", nagising si Dani sa palakpak.

"Oo, saan ka na nakarating?"

"Sa Hongkong.", sabi niya at binatukan ko siya. "Hindi ka ba inantok? Mukhang marami kang natutunan ha.", pang-aasar niya.

"Hinde, lumilipad nga isip ko eh."

Lumabas kami ng auditorium at pumunta sa cafeteria para mag lunch. Umupo sa tabi namin sila Reg at Rick samantalang si Nathan sa kabilang table mag-isa dahil hindi na kami kasya. Kumakain lang siya doon at hindi nagsasalita. Ano kayang nasa isip nito? Naguguluhan na ako.

Biglang nag-ring ang phone ko, tumatawag si mom.

"Hello mom?"

"Anak, Ms. Bianca of Chia Corp. called me regarding a commercial project, I reviewed the contract and I think it would work. The schedule of the briefing would be a week from now and they will announce the schedule of the shoot on that day."

"What day mom?"

"Next week Saturday, maybe your shoot will be scheduled on a weekend as well since you have classes."

"Okay mom, thanks." Binaba ko ang phone ko.

"Ano 'yon?", tanong ni Carol.

"Commercial."

"Really? Anong brand?"

"Secret, pero fitness drink siya."

"Really? Hindi ba ang bata po para mag endorse ng ganoon?"

"Exactly, that's the aim of the product. Huwag niyo na akong tinatanong, baka mareveal ko pa.", sabi ko at ititnuloy na namin ang pagkain. Hindi pa rin nakikisabat sa usapan si Nathan.

"Hoy Nathan magsalita ka naman diyan." Ngumiti lang siya at bumalik sa pagkain. Iniinis ba talaga ako nito? Matapos siyang mag mouth ng True Love Waits biglang parang wala nalang?
