"Itachi. Hidan. Konan. Stand back," Pein commanded. He flew through a series of hand signs. "Open!" Touching the lock with two fingers, he made the sharp command. There was a small clang, but nothing gave way. The other three members present looked increasingly worried. He tried again to no avail. Cursing lightly, Akatsuki's leader poured his chakra into his final try.

"OPEN!" he yelled. The metal lock shattered, along with the bars. Pein relaxed his stance, backing into a wall for support. Konan shot him a quick, concerned glance. "Tend to her. I'm alright."

"Quick, get her out," Itachi was commanding. "We need to operate as soon as we can." No one questioned the young Uchiha at that point, although he had never once said he would perform a surgery on their members. He's our best - and only - hope now, at this point, Pein thought.

"I'm counting on you," he told the prodigy. Itachi nodded.

"Everyone should come along. I will probably need you. As many members as possible, please." The Uchiha rushed off with Rin in his arms.

I get this odd feeling... like those two are something deeper than we know... So if I'm not wrong, this girl...

Dismissing the thought, Pein hurried out after them.

Sasori and Deidara nearly crashed into more incoming projectiles as they made their way into the Akatsuki hideout after yet another tiring mission. However, their exhaustion was overpowered by their excitement to visit their little girl in the dungeons.

"I feel like this has happened before, you know, un?" Deidara mused, grinning teasingly.

"The first day Rin came," Sasori reminisced, amused. They shared a smirk.

It immediately disappeared when they saw what the "projectiles" were.

Sasori, roaring in horror at the sight of a deathly pale Rin, rushed over to Itachi. He gasped at the blood soaking her overalls.

"It's my blood," Hidan assured quietly.

"Ch-Ch-CHOCO!" Deidara screamed. "Are you okay, un?!"

"GET OUT!" Itachi yelled at all of them. Everyone's eyes became as wide as saucers. No one said another word as everyone parted to let him pass with Rin.

Itachi grew increasingly worried, as any surgery on such a chakra-depleted person was bound to have a horribly low chance of success. Added onto his only-basic medical skills, Itachi knew he was far off from being able to heal his best friend.

I can only try my best.

He opened the girl's side, containing the gushing blood with a technique he learned from her back in Konoha.

"Can you guys come in one by one?" he called. "Close the door behind you!"

The members flooded in; they were not cooperating. Itachi fumed.
