We're nearing the end of the story, actually! We've only got a few more chapters to go!

I know. It was supposed to be about Rin going back to Konoha. And she's still supposed to sneak in some Akatsuki members and prank the Hokage Tower or something. Obviously, that hasn't happened yet. And what about their new cloaks?

Rin looked up and blinked.
"I thought I told you to stay home today, sensei."

"Holy cow-"
"Hey, Kakashi." Rin dropped down from a tree branch. "Where to?"
"Home."
"Aww. There's gotta be more than just work and home. What happened to friends?"
He glanced at her.
Well, when they've been missing for a year...
There was something in her voice, though. A wish, perhaps?
"I'll make time for friends."
Rin "hmm"ed and walked alongside him.
"You're still shocked, aren't you?" she asked.
"Obviously," he grumbled. "No one expects two dead people to come back after a year and a half."
"Ouch."
"Sorry. It's just- yeah. I'm shocked."
His teammate stopped and turned to look at him, blocking his path.
"Did you want to see us?"
The question stunned Kakashi.
"Of course."
Rin smiled, apparently satisfied.
"You're just too proud, aren't you?"
The girl did not wait for his retaliation. She leapt onto a roof and motioned for him to follow.
"You tired?" Rin asked.
"N-No, not really."
She held up a scroll and met his stormy gray eyes.
"Sensei gave me a mission. He told me to go with you."
"Oh, uhh, sure."
"You don't sound very excited."
"Well, it's just that..." He tugged on his silver hair sheepishly. "You sort of do everything, so there isn't much of a point in my coming along."
To his surprise, the kunoichi only laughed.
"Well, you'll have work to do this time." She brandished the scroll's contents in front of his startled face. "It's an S-rank."

"Here we go." Rin peeked through the bushes at her target. "Shimizu Izumi. Spiky hair, sharp teeth. Blue. Tells enough, doesn't it? It's going to be one hell of a water fight."
She almost laughed out loud when she realized just how much she had sounded like Kisame.
The look Kakashi was giving her was priceless.
