"You're... the new recruit, yes?" Nagato asked, eyeing the orange-masked teen uncertainly.

"Yes, that's me! I'm Tobi, and I'm a good boy!"

Itachi rubbed his temples.

"That is an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm."

"Hey, get off of my arm," Rin grumbled quietly. She had put on a mask that she had had Sasori carve her some time ago to hide her identity.

"Fine. Take your entrance exam," Nagato muttered, twitching.

"What?! There's an entrance exam?! It didn't say in the contract!"

"The dimwit read the f*cking contract," Hidan remarked with raised eyebrows.

"Hey! Tobi is not a dimwit! Tobi is-"

"Shut up," Konan said. "For the entrance exam, you'll fight..."

Rin raised her hand in volunteer.

"You sure?" Nagato asked. She nodded.

Kisame laughed.

"The newbie's doomed."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Itachi watched the fight, Sharingan spinning lazily. He was leaning against the doorframe to the hideout's backyard. The big lawn often disappeared under the Akatsuki's lack of ability to throw their garbage out, but they had cleared it up.
He shared a smirk with Kisame.
"She's not even trying, that Baby Shark."
Rin was jumping around, lazily avoiding Tobi's blows.
She threw a kunai at Itachi.
"Hey, onee-chan, you missed Tobi!" The goofball laughed at her.
A second later, there was a kunai dead in the center of his mask.
Catching the kunai that had gone awry, the Uchiha saw that there was a sheet of paper attached.
Someone tell him to use a jutsu.
The Uchiha smirked. Of course.
Therefore, he brought it to Nagato.
"Tobi, was it? Can you use a jutsu against R- the tester?"
"I don't know any jutsus, though!" Tobi called.
Rin narrowed her eyes, then tossed a piece of chakra paper at him in the form of an origami crane.
"Hey! No copying, missy!" Konan called. She received a note with a face sticking its tongue out on a kunai. The origami-user rolled her eyes good-naturedly.
As the Akatsuki regarded the scene, the same distraught thoughts ran through their heads.
She's changed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rin held a kunai up to Tobi's throat.

"Hey, you smell like someone I know!" Tobi exclaimed.
