Joy had spent the last few hours trying to get in contact with Mara, but it seemed as if she was the one that died in the car accident. She was looking online for some information about Mara’s parents’ accident. She checked every article possible, but there was nothing alike to what she and Jerome read in the newspaper about their death. She was about to give up, until she found something very similar to it. She clicked on the link and read.

Joy: It still isn’t what I read; this says they went out of hospital 5 days after the accident, nothing about their death.

She kept looking and all she found was interviews with them after their car accident. She took her laptop and headed downstairs into Eddie’s room. He was lying on his bed playing with a ball.

Eddie: What’s up, Joy?

Joy: Okay, it’s a fact that Mara’s parents didn’t die. I’ve checked everywhere in the internet for the newspaper article Jerome and I read, but it seems as if it didn’t exist, as if it had been faked.

Eddie stopped the ball he was playing with, placed it beside him and turned over to Joy.

Eddie: Wait, faked?

Joy nodded.

Joy: What we read said they had died 5 days after being at the hospital, and in every article in here it says they went out of the hospital. Is as if someone wanted us to think they died when they didn’t.

Eddie started thinking about the whole situation in front of him. He felt as if he knew what was going on, but couldn’t think straight.

Eddie: What if someone actually faked that, to make us think they did die, and that that was the reason why Mara didn’t come back?

He felt as if he had uncovered the mystery, but he wasn’t sure how to prove it. Or if it was even that.

Joy: But who would do that? What for? How even?

Eddie: I’m actually thinking we’d call Mara’s aunt first, and see what she has to say. Just after talking to her, we’d know what we’ll do.

Emily: So, you want me to guide you guys through the woods to find a certain cabin?

Nina: You understand fast.

Emily didn’t know if Nina was actually asking her for help, or if it was just a trick. In any way, if she helped Nina she’d be helping Fabian. She felt it was the first step to mend what she had done before.

Emily: Alright, I will. Just tell me when.

Nina: If it’s possible, tomorrow. It’d be Saturday, we can go early and we’d be back before it gets dark.

Emily: Sounds perfect. There’s just one thing you must sort out first.

Nina: What would that be?

Emily: Tell Fabian and the others I’ll be the one guiding. You know Amber hates me, everyone I guess, including Fabian now…

Nina: That’s no problem at all, Emily. I’d talk to them. Besides, you’re our only hope on this.

Emily sighed. She knew it probably would be hard being with a group of people who didn’t like her, at all, but it was something she had to do for them. She owed them that much. Besides, she was the only one that knew the woods the way she did. She lived there her entire life, practically.

Emily: I will do it.

Nina: Thank you so much for this. I know it must be hard, but you’re truly helping us.
