(A/n: The first chapter is kinda just getting to know (Y/n), how you act, and stuff like that. Please enjoy the book! P.S. and yes, I made the video ^^)

You sat in your school desk, eyes swiftly scanning across the words in the book you held. Behind your automated eyes, images and concepts danced and formulated in your mind, racing along various neural pathways. You always liked to keep your mind sharp, liked to enrich and form new neurological pathways in your mind. It's why you were reading right now. You were reading instead of making corrections on your previous test because you had gotten a perfect score. Although, it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Getting a perfect score wasn't difficult to do as long as you attended class and filled in any blanks along the way. You were deep into the story's plot until someone came up to you.

"Hey, (L/n)," Your classmate Ayano said, pulling you away from your book.

You were slightly irritated at the interruption, but you didn't show it. Instead, you smiled and turned to Ayano.

"Yes?" You asked.
"Can you help me with question twelve? I don't know what method to use," She bashfully said.

You simply gave her instructions on what to do. It wasn't that hard. It was just common sense, really.

"Oh! I see now, thanks (L/n)!" The girl thanked.

You flashed another smiled at her as she returned to her desk. You returned to your book. Soon enough, the bell finally rang, signaling the end of the school day.

Your walk home wasn't too long -probably about 15 minutes. You just kept in mind that some day, your school would be almost 250 miles away from your home. That was at least a two-hour train ride. Despite the distance, you knew it would be worth it. 10 months ago, you had decided to apply to U.A.: the best hero school in the country. The entrance exams were finally arriving. You wondered if you would get in. No, scratch that; you knew you would get in because if you didn't, then it would be the end of your future. Plus, you'd never hear the end of it from your mother. You aspired to be a popular pro hero ranked anywhere in the top 8. Specifically in the top 8 to beat your mother who was the number 9 pro heroine.

You eventually made it to your house and stepped inside, closing the door quietly behind you. Your mom stood at the kitchen counter cleaning. Bummer. The counter was facing the direction you'd be coming from. There's no way you'd be able to sneak by and reach the stairs to go up to your room. You tried to hurry and rush to your room without having to interact with your mother but to no avail.

"How'd you do on the math test?" Your mom asked, not even looking up from her cutting board.
"Um, good," You replied as you slowly turned to face her.
"Did you get any wrong?" She blandly interrogated.
"Nope. One hundred percent."
"Not one hundred and two percent?"
"Mom, there aren't any bonus questions."
"You didn't impress your teacher enough to get extra credit points?"
"Well I-"
"I expect you to do better next time." Your mom stated.
"Yes, I'll try to do better-"
"Don't try, you will do better." Your mom interrupted looking up from her cutting board to bore her icy (e/c) eyes into yours.

It took a lot of will power not to roll your eyes, but you kept your calm demeanor. It really pissed you off when your mother was like this. If she was so smart, how did she not realize that it was actually impossible to get more than 100% on the test? It was literally against the school board to give out unauthorized extra credit points. It could allow for favoritism! Then the whole situation would be even worse than just "I got only 100% and can't do anything about it". It pissed you off so much.

You let out a huff before replying, "Yes, understood, Mother."

After she said nothing else, you turned around to head up the stairs.
