(A/n: sorry for my long absence i haven't been feeling it. It's strange to write fanfic about someone when you're in a relationship with someone else. haha but that's for another day. anyway i didn't edit this so it probably sucks srry)

As you made your way to your prep room, you passed a vending machine.

"That match really took a lot out of me," You thought, "I should drink more water."

You bought another water bottle and continued to your room. As you walked down the hallways, you opened the bottle and put it to your lips. You finally reached your prep room and opened the door. You sat in the chair, still chugging your water, and you started thinking about your next match up.

The match after yours was Yaoyorozu versus Tokoyami. Either classmate would be challenging to go up against. Yaoyorozu's intelligence alone was enough to match yours. You were pretty darn intelligent yourself, ranking first in your middle school with straight A's and honors classes, but Yaoyorozu was so sharp witted and knowledgeable that there was a pretty good chance she was smarter than you. And with her intelligence, she'd probably be able to outsmart you in battle. Yaoyorozu also had an incredible quirk. With it, she could create practically anything. Her quirk was so resourceful, and you would have to be ready to prepare for anything and everything she threw at you.

But if Tokoyami won, then-

The opening door suddenly tore you away from your thoughts as you turned around to see who had opened the door.

You were met with Katsuki's grumpy demeanor as he walked into the room.

"Katsuki? What are you doing her-"
"Geez, if you keep drinking so much, you're gonna piss yourself." Katsuki cut you off, leaning against the table.

You placed the water bottle on the table and furrowed your brows in a pout.

"I drink so much because it's for my quirk," You informed.
Katsuki scoffed, "Tch- whatever."
You shook your head and crossed your arms as you leaned back in your chair, "What are you doing here anyway?"
"I couldn't stand sitting next to that dumb pikachu," Katsuki answered.

You chuckled at the name. Katsuki always gave the funniest nicknames to your classmates.

"Is that so?" You smiled. "Well, I suppose it can't be helped. But why did you come to my waiting room?"
"Your waiting room? I was assigned this waiting room," Katsuki said.
"Well," You mused, "I guess that each person gets a waiting room before and after their battle, so by the time you head to your waiting room, I'd be done in here."
"God, shut up," Katsuki growled, "That muttering makes you sound like stupid Deku."
"And what's wrong with that?" You questioned.
"Like there isn't anything NOT wrong with that," Katsuki snapped, "Deku is a worthless piece of shit."
"Really?" You prompted.

Katsuki didn't reply, clearly displeased about talking about Deku. Now that you mentioned it, you had wanted to know more about the their relationship. Katsuki had seemed to dislike Deku, but he had never given any real reason as to why. Although Bakugou seemed to hate Deku, Deku referred to him as "Kacchan".

"Isn't he your childhood friend, Kaachan?" You teased.

You saw Katsuki tense up and the tips of his ears grow red.

You giggled, "Alright, I won't press on if you don't wanna talk about it."

Katsuki seemed to slightly relax.

"But I do wanna know what that Class B guy was talking about," You started. You glanced up at Katsuki to see his reaction. He was silent, his eyes fixed on a spot on the floor, unwavering. You continued, playing with the water from your water bottle. "What did he mean by 'Sludge Incident'?"

You waited for him to say something, anything. You drank the remainder of your water as you waited for a response.

"It's none of your damn business," Katsuki stated.

His deep, gruff voice cut through the silence like a serrated knife, and it made you feel fuzzy and your insides warm. A small blush came to your cheeks as you realized that, and you immediately snapped your head down in attempt to hide it.

"It doesn't matter. That Copy Cat was just spraying sewer shit to distract us. It doesn't mean anything."

You looked up at Katsuki, eyes full of wonder, suspicion, and curiosity. He so quickly brushed it off and dismissed your question that you couldn't help but suspect there was something more to it. Regardless, you knew you couldn't say anything to get him to talk more about it; it was clear that he didn't want to share anything, so you decided you'd stop asking him about it and find out some other way.

"I guess you're right," You lied, getting up.

You stretched, raising your arms high over your head. You felt Katsuki's eyes on you as you did so. You opened your eyes a sliver and caught him staring at you. A smirk grew on your face as Katsuki turned away in embarrassment. Your arms dropped down to your sides, and you picked up your empty bottle.

"Welp, good luck on your battle, Katsuki," You chimed.

You walked over to the door and dropped your water bottle in the trash. Before exiting the room, you turned around and met Katsuki's ruby eyes.

"I'll be rooting for you."

You started turning around to exit, but Katsuki's voice made you look back at him.

"I don't need luck. Nor do I need anybody's support. I'll win this whole thing on my own." He declared.

You smiled warmly at him, "Just don't kill anybody, okay?"
"Tch-" He scoffed, turning his head away, "Whatever."

Your smile grew at his childish response. You turned around and exited the room, closing the door behind you.

You let out a breath and leaned against the door, tilting your head to look up at the ceiling.

"He's as prideful as ever," You thought to yourself.

You then made your way back to the stands. You walked over to your seat and sat down. Kaminari was two seats away from you, but he moved one closer because there was no one else nearby.

"You did really good Kaminari," You complimented.
"Thanks, (L/n)," Kaminari replied. "It's too bad I lost though."
"Yeah, well, you tried your best. You recovered from it pretty fast though," You brought up.
Kaminari nodded, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

"The eighth and final battle in the first round of matches," Present Mic started, "He was kind of a hot shot in middle school. And just look at that determined face! From the Hero Course, Katsuki Bakugou!"

You smiled, seeing Bakugou in the arena. But upon closer inspection, his face made you actually laugh.

"Hm? What is it, (L/n)?" Kaminari wondered.
"Oh nothing, it's just Katsuki's expression looks a little funny, that's all," You said, brushing it off.
Kaminari leaned closer looking at Bakugou's face, "Haha, yeah. It does look kinda strange."

"Versus- the one I'm personally rooting for- also from the hero course, Ochaco Uraraka!" Present Mic announced.

The crowd went wild and cheered for the two competitors. You politely remained seated smiled, cheering for your friend.

"Let the eighth match begin!!" Present Mic declared.
