Katsuki walked back and rejoined the group.
"Now, let's get started right away," Midnight declared.
"U.A. does everything right away, huh?" Uraraka said.
"Yup," You nodded.
"The first game is what you'd call a quialifier," Midnight continued. "Every year, many drink their tears here. Now, here is the first fateful game!"
A giant screen appeared behind her. The screen projected something spinning like a slot machine.
"This year it's..."
It stopped and read "Obstacle Course".
"...this!"
'I wonder what the obstacles will be," You thought to yourself.
"All eleven classes will participate in this race. The course will be the outer circumference of this stadium -about four kilometers. Our school's selling point is freedom! As long as you stay on the course, it doesn't matter what you do!" Midnight informed. "Now, take your places everyone!"
Everyone went over to the entrance of the race course. You tried to make your way to the front of the mob, but it was no use. You were stuck in the middle of the mob.
'It doesn't matter,' You thought to yourself. 'I'm still gonna win. Because that's what's expected of me, and because I'll show them that I'll be a great hero.'
You stood in the mob, ready to start sprinting. The three green lights slowly started turning off. The last light turned off and the race began.
"Start!!" Midnight shouted.
Everyone ran into the corridor, trying to get out the other side. But there were so many people, no one could really move.
"Hey! Hey!"
"This is too narrow!"
"Ouch!"
"Hey, move!"
You were getting shoved around by people, but you just shoved them right back. No one was gonna push you around.
'Even from the very beginning, it's the first sifting to see who's really the best,' You thought to yourself. 'Welp, I gotta get ahead of these losers then.'
You used your water to boost yourself above the mob. Just as you did that, you felt a chill run through the whole corridor. You looked down to see everyone struggling. You used your water jets on the bottom of your feet to get out of the corridor, even if that meant the people under were going to get wet.
"Hey!"
"Now I'm all soaked!"
"What the heck!"
"I bet it was a 1-A freak!"
"Sorry!!" You shouted back as if they would easily forgive you.
You got out of the corridor, and turned back to see ice everywhere.
'That must be Todoroki's doing.'
As Todoroki ran, he left the ground frozen behind him to slow everyone else down. You smirked.
You looked around you to see the your classmates that had also managed to get away from Todoroki's ice. Aoyama used his laser; Kirishima broke through with his hardening; Yaoyorozu used a long pole to push ahead; and Katsuki used his explosions to propel himself.
"Naive, Todoroki!" Yaoyorozu shouted.
"I won't let you get away so easily!" Katsuki yelled, "You half-and-half bastard!!"
"You got me with that once! You won't get me again!" Ojiro said as he slammed his tail into the ground.
"Woah that was close!" Ashido exclaimed as she slipped across the ice.
"Your ice has no effect on me if I don't touch the ground!" You shouted.
You kept boosting yourself forward with water jetting out from the bottoms of your shoes. You landed as you spotted something. You saw Mineta launch himself towards Todoroki.
