"Todoroki wins the match!" Midnight declared.
The crowd soon went wild, cheering for Todoroki after that incredibly flashy battle. You on the other hand, stood up which made Katsuki glance up at you.
"Where the hell do you think you're going?" His deep voice asked.
"I'm on deck so I'm gonna head to my waiting room." You replied.
"Good luck (Y/n)!" Kirishima chimed.
"Thanks!" You said.
You soon made your way to the waiting room, grabbing another water bottle along the way. It was like your pre-battle ritual to drink a full bottle before competing. It made you feel refreshed and secure, knowing you'd have at least some water reserved inside you incase of emergencies. You didn't exactly know if you were capable of drawing it out through your pores. You just knew that fighting under the sun would make it come out as sweat and that was something you knew you could use.
Before you knew it, it was time for your match. You walked through that long dark tunnel towards the bright light at the end. You shield your eyes from the bright light just for a second while they dilated. A knot formed in your stomach as you continued to step towards the stage. Tokoyami's dark shadow took out Yaoyorozu in no time. It was swift and strong and you had no idea if your water could beat that. You'd have to figure something out. He had to have some sort of a weakness right? No one's quirk is invincible. You'd figure it out eventually; you always did anyway. You stepped onto the battle field, barren except for your opponent standing on the opposite end.
"Now for our next match! (Y/n) versus Tokoyami!" Present Mic announced, "Match start!"
The second the match started, Tokoyami acted, "Go! Dark Shadow!"
Out from his body came a large black mass. You hadn't really been able to train against Tokoyami too often, so you really didn't know what to expect. Being face to face with the huge shadow was a little more intimidating than you thought, but you did your best to shake it off as a sudden wave determination washed over you. You thought about how you needed to win. To prove you were the best to all your classmates, the pro heroes, and especially, your mother.
You moved your arms and raised them up, gathering the water from the air and created a huge wall of water behind you. You learned from Yaoyorozu's battle that a simple shield wasn't enough to stop Dark Shadow from pushing you out of bounds. On the other hand, you picked up from Todoroki that a barrier behind you was plenty against forceful quirks. The sun light filtered through your water wall, casting bright waves of moving light across the battlefield. It made you smile. The squiggles of light reminded you of being underwater in an outside pool. It made you feel comforted since being in water was like your safe space.
Dark Shadow quickly rushed at you weaving every which way towards you, like sea snake in water. As he neared, you flicked out your hand, shooting a strong beam of water at him from the wall behind you. He dodged it and you immediately shot another, the second one hitting him square in the face and sent him back a few paces. But it didn't effect him for long, Dark Shadow quickly shook it off and raced towards you again. You shot more beams of water as he approached, but with his strange winding path, it was hard to anticipate where he'd be.
Within a blink of an eye, Dark Shadow crashed into you. You had quickly raised your arm to block your face and formed a water shield in front of you so you wouldn't get directly hit. Despite your shield, the force from his speed and raw strength pushed you back until you splashed into your wall of water. You condensed the water around your body to stabilize yourself and to prevent you from flying out of bounds. You could feel Dark Shadow's strength trying to push you through the wall, but the feeling of being squished by that forced helped your mind concentrate on further condensing the water wall, making it harder for you to possibly pass through it. You gathered up your strength for a moment and pushed your arms back against Dark Shadow as hard as you possibly could. The water wall followed your body movements and it also threw you forwards.
The unexpected force pushed Dark Shadow a ways away, but you were both still on your half of the battle field. With the wall having ejected you, You stood up straight and planted your feet as you prepared for the next rush towards you. Water from the wall dripped off you and your tracksuit now clung to the shape of your body. You narrowed your eyes, deep in thought. You had to think of something and fast; at this rate, you might loose if you don't react and catch yourself from flying out of bounds fast enough. You lifted your arms, firming up your water wall so every droplet was perfectly still. The waves of light on the ground disappeared as you smoothed out the surface of the water wall. Then, Dark Shadow rushed at you. Unlike his first advance, he wasn't twisting and turning this time; he was headed straight for you.
'He's faster?' You thought to yourself.
You quickly raised your arms to block with your water shield as Dark Shadow collided into you. You tumbled backwards, this direct force was greater than the previous hit. You lost control of your shield and it dripped onto the ground. Your wall faltered too, but you stretched your arm out towards it to prevent it from completely collapsing. With your water wall more free-moving, the sun shone through it again and it's rays of light appeared in rippling waves across the field. You quickly stood up again just to be met with Dark Shadow racing towards you.
"This is your chance Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami shouted from the other side of the field, "Take her out while the wall is weakened!"
You grit your teeth as you watched Dark Shadow's movements towards you. But you instantly realized something.
'His movements are different?' You thought, 'He's weaving again, but why?'
Then it hit you, his weakness revealed.
'The light!' You exclaimed, 'Duh! He's a shadow!! Why didn't I think of it before? He's weaving to dodge the light!"
Dark Shadow lunged at you, but you successfully jumped out of the way. He charged again, but before he could reach you, you waved your arms, moving the entire wall of water. You moved it directly behind you and shaped it into a concave lens. Due to the new shape, all the light filtered through from the sun was focused on one point, and it was aimed directly at Dark Shadow.
"Ahh!" He cried as the beam of light shined across him.
"No! Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami shouted.
Dark Shadow flinched back, fearful of the light. A devious smile spread across your lips. This was gonna be easy. You spread out your arms and behind you, the giant water lens split into multiple lenses which created numerous concentrated beams of sunlight across the field. You began walking forward with your water lenses in tow. Dark Shadow tried to rush you again, but every time he moved, you'd angle one of your water lenses to shine a beam of light directly at him.
Eventually you had made your way across the entire battlefield. Soon enough, you had made it to your opponent and surrounded them with beams of light. You were face to face with Tokoyami who had Dark Shadow cowering behind him.
"Your move Tokoyami," You stated, 'Although I know you're not one to get physical yourself.'
He frowned, "Hardly... Tell me, how did you know of Dark Shadows weakness?"
You shrugged, "His change in movement gave it away while he was trying to avoid any light passing through my water wall."
"How keen," He stated. Tokoyami then turned to Midnight, "I surrender."
"Tokoyami surrenders!" Midnight announced, "(Y/n) wins!!"
You smiled as Midnight said those words. You relaxed your arms and the suspended water behind you splashed onto the ground. You approached Tokoyami and outstretched your hand.
"Sorry about using your weakness against you. I can't help but feel dirty." You apologized as sincerely as you could.
Tokoyami shook your hand, "No, no, I rely too heavily on my quirk. That's something I need to work on."
You briefly nodded and smiled before walking off the battlefield, the cheers of the crowd echoing through the tunnel as you exited.
