I'd left Lux's house in a rush, angry that what we were doing was cut short. Blair just loved to ruin my day, didn't he? I actually felt happy for a few moments of my life. She and I were nothing fighting or arguing and it was almost like we were lovers. There was no such thing as immortals and dominance. We were equals. We were both enjoying the moments as they came. Lux was a beauty, writhing before me, riding me like there was no tomorrow. She looked absolutely exquisite and not one bit of animosity was coming from her. I had many questions to ask her, however, I refused to ruin what we had going. It brought me back to when she fought every ounce of her will to not enjoy what I was doing to her. But now, now she was loving my touch, craving it.
What changed?
I was frustrated to the point that I wanted to kill everything in my wake. Why did she want me now? Why fight me all this time? These questions I pondered made me want to run back into her place and demand she tells me everything.
I walked over to my car and slid into the driver's seat. I stared at my reflection in the rearview mirror. My hair was a mess and my eyes were crazed. I lost my mind. Something was wrong with me. I was letting a succubus consume me. Here I was, one of the most powerful men in the underworld, thinking about a lowly sex demon. But to me, she was something more. She was more than a succubus. She was Lux; strong, capable and I loved how she was defiant. It made me want to take her even more.
Driving to Blair's place gave me an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. He sounded extremely serious when he called and knowing Blair, he wasn't always the serious one. Unless something really important is going down. My stomach dropped when I saw Blair standing in front of the spot I usually parked in. I drove beside him and rolled down my window.
"Before I get out of this goddamned car, what is happening?" I snapped, my annoyance and frustration growing.
"Bloodtrei is here. He is not telling us what is going on, but he insists that it will do us all good, even that little succubus you are infatuated with," Blair's eyes were jumping from their usual color to black. He was indeed nervous.
"Luxinia? What does this have to do with her? And I am not infatuated with her. I'm simply keeping an eye on her like I was told to do so," I replied, getting out the car.
"That's not what the others think. They think you are in love with her," Blair commented, following my mad dash to his front door.
I whirled around, my eyes blazing. "I am not in love with a mere succubus!" I shouted, trying to ignore the fact that I was inside her less than an hour ago.
"Good, because that's what you're going to have to say to the others," Blair shook his head, "By the way, where were you last night and this morning? We were looking for you."
"Don't worry about where I was." I couldn't tell Blair that I was at Lux's because then it would confirm everyone's suspicion of me. Incubi could never be in a place together because eventually, we would start to turn on each other.
Blair opened the door and I stepped in, going straight to the conference room, knowing that Bloodtrei was most likely there. Blair was quick to follow. I opened both doors and all the incubi turned to look at me. And that's when I knew. This meeting was of something far more important because the second they saw it was me, they turned back to look at Bloodtrei. I noticed Jamie standing in the corner of the room, his eyes on me. He knew that I stayed at Lux's place. Hopefully, he would know to stay quiet.
Bloodtrei sat at the head of the table with a wicked gleam in his eyes. "Ah, take a seat Storm. I'm sure the topic of tonight's discussion will be of interest to you."
I took a seat, and Blair sat next to me. "They wouldn't even tell me what was going on and this is my house!" Blair whispered.
Bloodtrei looked around and then smiled. "This is good. Everyone is mostly here." He stood up and stared at each of us as he circled the table. "As you know, recently there has been an incline of incubi murders. We have yet to find the killer, even though we have our suspicions. We've even appointed someone to keep an eye on the said suspect. However, they have not found concrete evidence." Bloodtrei glanced at me and then walked back towards his spot.
"We have found another body last night," He continued, "It was Mikhail. Unfortunately, he was murdered in his own home last night. Stabbed to death with a special knife. His head was severed along with his hardened cock. We have reason to believe that it was Luxinia Steele." Bloodtrei glared at me, expecting an outburst.
Instead of me opening my mouth, Jamie did. "Sir, with no disrespect, but how do you know that she did it? She was with us last night. In her home."
Bloodtrei shook his head. "The weapon had her initials on it. Engraved LS."
Murmurs broke out between the table and I knew that almost everyone in here wanted to kill her.
I frowned, knowing there was no way that Lux killed Mikhail. He wasn't a powerful incubus, but he wasn't weak either. It would take a lot to kill him. Not just a tiny knife. Plus, she was with me the whole night. There's no way she left my arms to go and kill someone. I felt her the whole night...
Or perhaps she snuck out and killed him, then came back. Jamie and Tessa would defend her even if she did kill him.
"There's no way she did," Jamie went on, "She was with me the whole night."
I raised a brow at him. He must've known that the others were suspicious of me. He was trying to protect me. I frowned. I could handle myself just fine. "She was also with me, as well."
All eyes turned on me. Bloodtrei grinned. "You were both with her last night? How interesting."
Blair glared at me and I knew I should've told him the truth. However, I didn't know that I would be telling everyone about my business at a meeting.
"Jesse, you must decide and decide now. You have not claimed this succubus, yet you're still with her as if she is yours. Jamie, you and Jesse must figure this out, or I will figure it out for you," Bloodtrei snapped, he walked towards the door, "Now for the news, everyone has been anticipating."
"As you know, Dominick Petrove died years ago. Deemed dead, never to come back from existence. However, it is with great celebration that we've have figured out a way to resurrect Dominick Petrove from the grave. There is a ritual that a witch will perform with the blood and sexual fluid of four succubus virgins," Bloodtrei explained, clapping his hands together.
Everyone was quiet at first, but as soon as his words settled in, everyone in the room started to clap. However, I wasn't clapping and nor was Jamie. We knew who this man they were going to resurrect and I wasn't happy about it. Would Lux be happy?
"How will you get four virgins?" Jamie asked, his arms folded.
"Easy. We get them younger," Bloodtrei guffawed, "This ritual is all about timing. It will work to our advantage. No incubus would have to die now. Whoever is murdering the incubi, will do it all for naught."
A gross feeling settled in my stomach, making me feel uneasy. This wouldn't bode well.
