If someone told me that I would be following Daemon to wherever he was leading me, I would've told them to lay off the drugs. Daemon was supposed to be dead. He wasn't supposed to be alive. He caused Dom's flip out. All that suffering could've been prevented. I didn't have to kill Dominick. None of this had to happen.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked, staring at the back of Daemon's head. I just couldn't believe my eyes.
"My people. I'm sure Haden has told you what we are all about, yes?"
I rolled my eyes. Daemon sure as hell was acting like nothing had happened to him. If he expected everything to return to the way it was before then he was in for a rude awakening because I was sure as hell was not going to treat him how he wanted. He had to earn his trust again. "More like kidnap me and threatened to kill my closest friend, then yes. I know exactly what you're all about."
"I'm sorry. He's a little rough around the edges. I'll be sure to give him a stern talking to," Daemon muttered, "Jealous one."
"So this prophecy. What does it exactly entail?" I asked, knowing the gist of it, but not the whole thing.
"We believe due to your unique attributes, you can be the person who can kill the incubatti society. Once you do, we'll rise to power and change everything. Succubi are treated horribly. You have the power to stop that. No more living the way they live. They still do auctions for fuck's sake," Daemon snapped, his eyes were wild and there was something in his eyes I couldn't quite place. Daemon really hated how things were. Why was he so intent on fixing this? He was an incubus, it wasn't his problem.
"What's in it for you Daemon?" I asked, noticed that we were walking over to a beautiful Lamborghini Diablo Red.
"What's in it for me? Well, seeing everyone finally free. Isn't that what you want? Instead of being used? I hear you have caught the attention of Jesse Drake. He's a pretty powerful Greater Demon."
"He doesn't want to claim me. He just wants to play around with me. I'm fine the way I am," I don't know why, but I felt like I couldn't trust Daemon. He just showed up out of the blue, expecting me to join his exclusive group of people who wanted to kill incubi. This could easily be a trap. Convince me to go and 'join' him, but then I would be caught. For all I know, Jesse could've planned this. This whole thing could be a setup. Hell, I was tortured by his merry band of 'do-gooders'.
I found myself turning around, my annoyance being raised. As much as I wanted to stay and ask what was Daemon doing this whole time, I just couldn't trust him. This whole thing was just confusing. I didn't want to handle this.
"I'm sorry. I just can't go into the car with you. This... this is just too much," I explained, shaking my head.
Daemon nodded, staring at me intently. "I understand. Let me drive you home then."
I raised my brow, but he motioned for me to sit down. "Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you."
Part of me wanted to get into the car and the other part of me knew better than to go into the car of someone who was supposedly dead. Sighing, I picked the former and slid into the car, hoping that my choice wouldn't be full of regret.
The ride to my place wasn't as bad as I anticipated. We kept the conversation light, in fear that I would leave the car while it was in motion. Daemon parked the car right in front of my loft. I looked at the window and noticed that the lights were off. Jamie and Tess weren't home yet.
