"You know I will find you," Dom sat across the table giving me those eyes of his.
I stared back, not knowing what to say. Part of me wanted to provoke him, to scream, cause a ruckus.
"You can stay quiet, you can keep your guard up, but just know I'm here waiting for you to have a moment of weakness," Dom stood up and sauntered towards me, an air of confidence to him that unnerved me.
I shuddered, feeling the coldness of his body near mine. His mind pushed against mine, trying to bring down my walls. I could feel the invasion of my consciousness. However, my walls were up and he couldn't get to any of my thoughts. At least not yet. It was as if he was a small parasitic worm in my head, trying to find any crack to slither through. However, there weren't any cracks, to begin with since I'd spent many years perfecting my mentality after escaping Dom the first time. I knew where to go with my mind in order for myself not to break. Think of your happy place, Lux.
"It's cute, how strong your mentality is right now. However, you cannot last forever. You may be impenetrable now, but eventually, it will take a toll on you. You will make a mistake. I'll be here until then. The purgatory of your mind. This is the waiting area and love if there's something I have a lot of--is patience." Dom stepped behind my chair and placed his hands on my shoulders. His lips brushed against my ear. The sound of his voice made me want to hurl.
And yet, I didn't dare say a word.
My eyes opened quickly and I sat up, taking in large breaths of air. I looked to my right and saw that Jesse already had his side of the bed made up. I groaned and ran a hand through my messy hair. What time is it? I thought.
Dom was biding his time and he chose the times where I'm sleeping to go into my mind. My guard is weaker while I'm sleeping and he knows that. Sleep deprivation will come into place soon, breaking my mentality. I knew exactly what Dom was doing. And it was smart. It would eventually make me go insane and I would start seeing Dominick in places where he wasn't. Just like yesterday. I couldn't let him break me so easily.
Walking downstairs, I heard the sound of silverware clinking and I quickly began to realize that that sound would be a familiar sound in the household. We didn't necessarily need food to sustain ourselves, we needed sex energy. However, food did sometimes replace sexual hunger. If you really think about it, any of the seven sins replaced the hunger of lust. Gluttony was a popular one to replace lust. With no human or incubus in sight, I would soon have to resort to food as a form of sustenance.
Osma and Blythe were downstairs already. I noted that Alethea wasn't, which I could easily figure out why. I took a seat across from Osma this time around and her eyes locked on to mine.
"Sleep well?" She asked, passing me a plate full of breakfast. The plate consisted of a breakfast of champions that donned bacon, pancakes, eggs and sausage links.
"Somewhat." I grabbed the plate, "thanks."
"I know you didn't eat much last night so I gave you a good helping. You'll need it if you are to stay here for a while. You must get used to eating human food often. I knew in New York that's probably not what you did. Are you an orange juice type of girl or coffee?" She asked, getting up and walking to the kitchen counter.
"Coffee," I mumbled, staring at the contents of food in front of me. She was right, I didn't eat much and this was a lot. I had Jamie to fill any hunger I had. Somehow, I felt like I had to clean the plate off or I would be disrespecting her.
