Dedication: To my Parents

I don't know about you but I'm proud to say that I have super cool parents! I know teenagers like me should be all like disrespecting and rebelling on their ma and pops but that is just so 90s.

Let me just tell you why I should thank the heavens right now that I have such awesome parents:

Like, my mom is the most understanding and loving mother I ever had in my life. She never wakes me up early. (unless it's a school day or she made breakfast for me) She let me sleeps all I want even till 4 pm. And when I want to wake up, she'll cook her delicious dishes for me right away.

She supports me in everything I do even though she doesn't approve of it. Like the time I was drunk but she still helped me get ready for bed or the first time I cut my hair and she went ballistic. I ignored her absurd reaction and went outside furious. I thought, 'She never let me do anything.' I went home and she surprised me with her homemade lasagna.

Other than that, every time that she goes out or leaves from work, she'll ask us what we want on the way home. I always ask her to buy me fruits. Especially apples since I'm addicted to those babies.

And she's the only person I know who really has a heart and always makes a plan in the most crucial time.

But my favorite part is that whenever my dad is out for work the whole day, my mom will take us wherever our heart desires to do whatever we want. One of those things is of course, food bingeing.

OMG! My mom just gave me P100 after her payday. Now, I'm not broke. Somehow.

My mom is the superhero of my life. I guess most daughters feel the same way about their mothers. But for me, she is the real "pahlawan." (FYI, that's a Bahasa Indonesian term for superhero.)

My dad is the biggest sweetheart I know. He could pass as my boyfriend and come to think of it, I want to marry someone like my dad. But not someone who smokes their lungs out. That is a major turn-off for me. I swear, cigarette smoke was the reason I had allergies and chronic nosebleeds.

Speak of the devil, I can smell my dad smoking from my room as we speak.

My dad spoils us rotten. He loves children, he can't get enough of it. Hand him a baby and he'll be going nuts. Though even through his loving ways, he raised us to be individuals when you want something, you gotta earn it. I remembered when I wanted an iPhone but my dad told me I could have it if I became the first honor of the class. Now, that was pure motivation! I worked my butt off and every blood, sweat and tears was worth it when I became the top of the class. Since then, I owned an iPod Nano, a Macbook Pro and currently my dad just gave me an Ipad as a graduation gift.

He was the first person who taught me to be strong and independent. I mean all fathers do that but I don't think any child would hear all kinds of bad words from their fathers. It became a habit actually. My dad curses five times a day or even more.

He was my eye-opener to the real world but he was also the king to my fairytale world where he treated me like a princess. He'd get me to go shopping, buy me foods that I crave, and basically get anything my heart desires.

As much as I like to say that how great they are, they're no perfect parents. They've made mistakes from the past but those experiences made them a better person. But what happened today tho, it felt like a dream come true.
