"Captainnamerika, we have to go." My mom cooed as she patted my sleeping body.
I groaned. "What time is it?"
"It's 5 pm, sweetie. The party starts at 6:30. So you better wake up and get dressed."
"But I don't want to go. Let me sleep in peace." I replied in a spoiled brat's tone as I covered my head with the sheets.
"Honey, you know I would never wake you up even if you slept till 9 pm. But we both promised Aunt Tessie that we'll go. Besides, Vanessa's going to be there. I'm sure she misses you."
I could never say no to my favorite aunt. And I missed my best cousin as well. So I uncovered myself from the sheets and tried to open my eyes as I got up. I suddenly felt dizzy and groggy, I almost fell on my bed but my mom caught me in my arms.
She chuckled and left my bedroom. I rolled my eyes in her direction. Ignoring her funny remark, I went to my closet to find something to wear for the party. I opted for a white tank top over a checkered polo, faded high-waisted skinny jeans and my low top black Converse. I pulled my smelly, unwashed hair to a fishtail braid, washed my face and brushed my teeth. For the finishing touches, I applied my favorite Baby Lips lipbalm and I was good to go.
When I was done, my parents were waiting for me by the door. "You ready?"
I nodded. We went for the door and made our way to the garage where the family's car was there which was a silver Kia Carens. We had it for almost ten years but it still looks as good as new. My dad really take good care of it after spending P1.2 M worth. I called shotgun as always. I hopped in to the car while my mom slipped in to the passenger side and my dad went for the driver's seat. He started the engine and drove away as we left our cul-de-sac.
Following that little routine of mine, I opened the car stereo and find some good music to listen to for our 30-minute drive. I cannot live without music. Heck, I even have a speaker installed in my bathroom. And being a teenager, I was a huge fan of Skrillex and Jack Conte. But my parents find electronic music quite appalling.
Signs of getting old, probably.
Suddenly, what caught my eye on the screen was Paris Hilton's new song, "Good Time ft. Lil Wayne." It was love at first hear when the music blasted through the car stereo.
"Dad, did you know when Paris Hilton was turning 30, she wanted to get married and have kids?" I sounded like a five-year old who just got a star from her kindergarten class.
"She'll never settle down for a rich heiress like her. Even if she did, I'm sure the guy is after her money. And you shouldn't be looking up to her, especially for a socialite. After the crazy things she's done to the past, who would want to marry someone like her?"
"I guess." I replied with a sigh.
Secretly, I've been following Paris Hilton for quite some time now. I checked out her website, photos and reality shows she starred in. She's been living the good life not only as a socialite but a singer, actress, author and fashion designer. Curently, she's been DJ-ing in clubs and VIP parties. Though that doesn't mean it's always easy for her. Behind the headlines and flashing lights, she's just also a person like everybody else.
When I watched her in one of her reality shows, The World According to Paris, I thought I was on a sneak peek through her life. What can I say? I love Paris and the feeling will never change. Cause for me, she's just an average person who's getting through life like me and with her experiences makes her a better person.
Even if I tried to do a little speech to my dad for defending Paris, he wouldn't buy it. Instead, I mentally listed top 10 things on what I like about Paris Hilton. To be honest, I can relate a lot to her. Here goes:
