Chapter 20

The next day...

Krystal Wayne, please report to Principal Smith's office, immediately! The vice principal announces on the overhead speaker.

Krystal rolls her eyes. She starts to walk to principal's office.

Suddenly, someone grabs her arm. It's Danny.

"Danny, I'll be fine!" Krystal giggles.

"Kris, I know you!" Danny says. "The last time you were called to the principal's office was in third grade!" Danny reminds Krystal.

Krystal looks at the floor. "You're right," Krystal confesses. "Come with me?" Krystal asks Danny.

Danny smiles and walks closer to his girlfriend. He puts his arm around her and they walk to the principal's office.

Krystal opens the door to the principal's office. Inside are her parents and Principal Smith. Her parents turn around to see their daughter.

"Mister Braxton, this is a private matter." Mr. smith says, as nicely as possible.

"It's either I stay, or we both leave." Danny says, seriously. Krystal looks up at her boyfriend and smiles.

"Mister Braxton!" Mr. Smith yells.

"Carl Smith!" Danny yells back.

Mr. Smith presses his lips together. "Fine, stay!" Mr. Smith says, giving up in the argument. Danny smiles. He walks inside the office and closes the door. Krystal sits in the chair in between her parents.

"Alright, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne," Mr. Smith says. "Yesterday, Krystal ran out of her first period." Mr. Smith informs Krystal's parents. Mrs. Kyle and Mr. Wayne gasp.

"Krystal, is that true?" Mrs. Kyle asks her daughter in shock.

"Yes, mother." Krystal says, acting sweet.

"Krystal, why?" Me. Wayne asks his daughter.

Krystal looks back at Danny. She looks back at Mr. Smith.

"I did it for a friend." Krystal says, vaguely.

"Which friend, dear?" Mrs. Kyle asks.

"You don't know them." Krystal lies. Mr. Wayne looks back at Danny, then back at Mr. Smith.

"Because of this, Krystal is sentenced to a week of two-hour detention." Mr. Smith informs Krystal's parents.

"We understand." Mr. Wayne says. Krystal's parents stand up and shake Mr. Smith's hands. Krystal, her parents, and Danny, then walk out of the office.

Krystal and her mother walk to the parking lot. Mr. Wayne grabs Danny's arm.

"What's up, Wayne?" Danny asks, calmly.

"It's Mister Wayne, to you!" Mr. Wayne reminds Danny. "And I want you to know, that Krystal is my only daughter, my only child!" Mr. Wayne informs Danny. "So, if anything happens to her, you'll end up like Mayor James!" Mr. Wayne threatens Danny. "Got it?" Me. Wayne asks.

"Yes, sir." Danny says, scared.

"Good!" Mr. Wayne says to Danny. He releases Danny's arm and Danny runs away.
