Okay, so... If you don't know, I have now started an angst war with my friend insertpunhere0 . Basically, we're going to take turns writing angsty things and try to essentially out-angst each other until one of us admits defeat. This is gonna be... interesting. And so, if you're a reader of my work or hers.... I'm sorry. I hope you like your feelings being played with.

Trigger warning: panic attack

~~~
"Roman, look. We're all upset. We're all worried. But it'll be okay. He'll be okay." Thomas said.
Tears streamed down my face as I paced back and forth in the hospital hallway. I heard Thomas, but refused to acknowledge the fact that he was talking to me.
Not now...
There's too much...
I can't...
I can't handle it....
"Kiddo..." Patton said.
I counted my steps as I walked. I needed a distraction.
45, 46, 47...
Each step made a sound on the hard, cold floor. A sound that I grew to hate.
"There's a chance he'll survive, Roman." Logan said.
54, 55, 56...
"Roman, look. I know you're upset and I know that's your boyfriend in that room behind us. But we love Virgil too, you know. Don't you think we're just as distraught as you are?!" Thomas said, standing up and forcing me to acknowledge him.
I only buried my wet face into my hands. It was too much. I couldn't take it.
"Virgil will be okay." Patton said. "He'll need time to heal, but healing is what the body does best! He'll make it out of here alive and we'll continue to be the big, happy group of friends we were before the crash."
The crash.
Even hearing the words made me cry harder.
My breathing was out of control. Short, choppy breaths. I was starting to get lightheaded.
Virgil would know what to do...
But he's unconscious on a hospital bed, with a chance he might not make it out alive.
That thought only further brought me to hyperventilation.
"Roman, are you okay? Steady your breathing. Breathe in for—" Thomas rushed to my aid.
"Stop." I said. "All I can think of is Virgil."
"You're having a panic attack. You need to calm down, and that's a method that works." Logan said. "Think about your health."
Patton looked concerned. He ran over to me and wrapped me in a hug. "I'm here for you, Roman."
"I... I d-don't-t..." I struggled to get the words out. I was hyperventilating.
"It's okay, Roman. You don't need to talk." Thomas said.
"It's better if you don't." Logan said. "Focus on calming down, focus on relaxing."
"I don't des-serve this-s..." I managed to get out.
"Well, why on Earth would you think that, kiddo?" Patton asked, concerned.
"I..." My voice was shaky. "It's my fault..."
"Falsehood. You were just swerving to avoid hitting a deer. You didn't mean to hit the tree." Logan said.
