If you didn't know, today marks one year after Thomas posted the first ever SandersSides video on YouTube. People are treating it like the birthdays of Roman, Logan, and Patton (although they technically existed before that on Vine), but anyways, I definitely think it's a reason for a celebratory one shot to commemorate the day.

Thank you to mah pal GuardedMind for suggesting the plot to this one shot.

"It's hard to believe that it's been a year." Thomas said.

"Technically, if you include Vine, it's been longer." Logan pointed out.

"Oh, those were the good old days!" Patton said. "Remember the Ultimate Storytime?"

"How could I not?" Roman said. "I still sing the soundtrack to myself sometimes!"

"Not only to yourself." Virgil muttered.

"We've come so far in this one year." Patton said. "And we're going to continue to grow and develop. We don't know what the future holds, but let's face it with an optimistic outlook!"

"To one year!" Roman said.

"To one year!" The others repeated.

Roman, Logan, and Patton sank down and into their own respective rooms.

Thomas turned to Virgil. "I want to throw a surprise party for them."

"They'd love that." Virgil said.

"Will you help? Please?" Thomas asked. "I can't do it by myself."

"Sure." Virgil nodded. "I'll help."

"Thank you!" Thomas said. "I'm thinking we can have balloons, because Roman will love something big and extravagant. We can put stickers of their individual logos on each balloon, and I can easily get a cake from the store. We could even get them gifts, seeing as how this is sort of like their unofficial birthday."

"Wow, that's... a lot." Virgil blinked.

"Maybe so, but they'll love it. Could you blow up balloons while I run to the store?" Thomas asked.

Virgil nodded.

"Thank you!"

Thomas dashed out and to his car, while Virgil grabbed a plastic bag of balloons and tore it open. He decided to retreat to his room to blow up balloons, because his room was a more comfortable place for him, and besides, there's less of a chance that one of the other three traits could walk in on him blowing up balloons and wonder what was happening.

Virgil was out of breath after just one very full balloon, so he tied it at the end and placed a sticker on it. A royal maroon emblem, Roman's logo.

He continued with the balloons, but quite frankly, it was boring. His mind was allowed to wander... And with Virgil, that wasn't always a good thing.

Virgil was jealous. He didn't know why, he hated parties anyways. They were too festive, too cheesy, not his style. But... He wanted to be included.

It wasn't that long ago that he was considered the outcast for giving Thomas anxiety.

Maybe he was overthinking it. It was his anxiety, his self-consciousness over being the odd one out.

I mean, after all, Thomas wanted him to help, right?

Virgil ignored his negative thoughts to the best of his ability and forced himself to focus on the task at hand.

The party was all put together, and so Thomas summoned the three traits.

"Surprise! Happy one year!" Thomas said.

They admired the decorations around Thomas's living room.

"Nice balloons." Roman was looking at one with his emblem on it.

"Oh, hey! It's my logo!" Patton pointed to a balloon with his signature heart and glasses logo.

"Is that cake?" Logan asked.

"CAKE!" Patton exclaimed.

The party went on, and it was clear hey were having fun.

So no one noticed when Virgil started to distance himself.

No one noticed when Virgil slipped away.

No one noticed Virgil sink down.

No one noticed anything wrong at all.

"Virge?" Roman's voice was small in Virgil's room.

"Yeah?" Virgil's tone was nonchalant, and when he faced him, his expression was casual.

But it was fake.

"Why'd you leave?" Roman asked.

Virgil shrugged. "It was your thing. Not mine. I didn't have a part in it."

"We still wanted you there." Roman said.

"Then why did it take you so long to notice I had left?" Virgil asked blatantly.

"We did notice, Virgil. We figured you had a reason for leaving. We waited to cut up the cake, though, in case you wanted to be there for that." Roman said.

"...Oh." Virgil said.

"Exactly." Roman outstretched a hand to Virgil. "Want to rejoin the party?"

Virgil slowly nodded, and took Roman's hand. They both teleported back to Thomas's living room, where the party continued.

The next morning, Virgil woke up earlier than usual, for someone who likes to sleep in. He applied his makeup and made his way outside his room, proud of himself for waking up early.

"No, Logan, it goes here. It looks nicer that way." Roman said.

"Roman, does it really matter where you put the balloo— Virgil." Logan paused when he saw Virgil standing there.

Patton, Roman, Thomas, and Logan were all staring at Virgil, surrounded by purple and black decorations, balloons with little storm cloud logos on them, complete with cake.

"Surprise!" Thomas said.

"We were counting on you sleeping in." Roman admitted sheepishly. "Sorry."

"Is this..." Virgil trailed off.

"A surprise party for you! It was Roman's idea because he didn't want you to feel left out!" Patton said.

Virgil smiled softly.

"Thank you, guys."

The five of them joined in one giant group hug.

"You're welcome, Virgil."
