Logan sighed. He wanted so desperately to know, to open a book and figure it out, to have it laid out for him and to have it be simple, but life didn't work like that. Love wasn't something he could understand from a reading, or a study. He had to... experience it. Figure it out for himself.
And that's what scared him.
It was feelings. The foggy grey area of uncertainty. The possibility of hurt. The unknown. Unable to be studied or traced or researched.
It was the way he felt when Patton smiled, the way his heart skipped when Patton met his eyes, the way he melted at the sound of Patton's laugh.
He hated it. It was mushy feelings, gross, tricky things that he preferred not to deal with.
But... It was sorta nice.
It wasn't... Too bad. Patton could make him feel like he was a million miles high. Patton could make his heart race and his cheeks heat up but it was... good. For lack of a better term. It was... good.
Good.

"You love him."
Virgil's grin was teasing, taunting Logan for his obvious feelings, the ones he didn't quite understand.
"I... I don't know if I can call it love just yet. I don't understand my feelings just yet, and I don't think I ever quite will, but..." Logan hesitated. "There's something about Patton that's special and I really... really like him."
"Take him out to dinner." Virgil suggested.
"What? No, I couldn't possibly." Logan shook his head.
"You could too possibly." Virgil teased him by mocking the structure of his sentence. "Here, gimme your phone."
"Absolutely not." Logan said, but Virgil had already snatched it from the coffee table.
Virgil dialed in four simple digits and Logan immediately regretted giving Virgil his iPhone password.
By the time Logan saw the screen, Virgil already had iMessage pulled up and Patton's name was at the top. He handed the phone over to Logan. "Say something."
"I..."
"Trust me, it's a lot less stressful over text." Virgil said.
"Maybe it would be better in person." Logan said. "Text can't really convey emotion or intent as well. I could go to his room."
"Alright. Go get yourself a date." Virgil smirked.
"I can't believe I'm letting you talk me into this." Logan sighed. "It's romance. I'm not for that."
"I'm just being a supportive best friend here." Virgil said. "If a best friend knows their friend's crush likes them back, then the only thing to do is—"
"Wait, he likes me back?" Logan froze.
"It was pretty obvious." Virgil said. "Just go talk to Patton."
Logan teleported himself to Patton's golden room of memories.
"Patton?"
Patton looked up and met Logan's eyes.
"Oh! Logan!" Patton greeted. "Guess what?"
Logan blinked in confusion. "What?"
"The snow leopard was taken off the endangered species list!" Patton grinned. "Also honey bee populations have increased by 27%, and researchers have found an insecticide that doesn't kill bees! Scientists have also found a way to expand the barrier reef— it's just a great time for the Earth."
