She opened her eyes surprised from the endless silence and she was startled to see all the young air benders close to her age sitting cross-legged on the floor, meditating. She looked in front of her seeing Monk Chengyu meditating as well. She decided it was better to close her eyes and continue the lesson of meditation before her Mentor find she wasn't doing what he instructed.
Before she was able to return back to the endless peace of meditation she felt someone grasping her hand tightly that snapped her eyes opened. She saw Aang, on a battlefield. He was lying on the soil and he had some bleeding cuts on his face.
"You abandoned me..." Aang tried to say breathing heavily "...you left me die," he seemed paler than usual and weak. Each moment he held her hand tighter and tighter around her scarred wrist causing the long lost pain to return back.
"No," She managed to say filling her eyes with tears.
"...your own brother... you let them kill me... you've failed me," Aang said breathing heavily.
"I would never let anyone hurt you!" Iris said sobbing and crying.
"But you did,"
"Iris!" she heard someone shouting.
She turned immediately around. She was no longer in the battlefield there was nothing but darkness and a familiar voice shouting her name. She turned again around. She saw someone familiar. She could never forget that scar on his face. He was Zuko and he looked worried and panicked. But he was way different. He no longer had that ridiculous ponytail. His hair had grown reaching his ears.
He wrapped his arms tightly around her elbows and he said "You need to get out of here, it's not safe-" but before he was able to continue something struck him from behind, like lightning. He left a loud cry of pain and he fell down unconsciously. Only to reveal a woman from behind. She seemed to be the one to have thrown the lightning that almost killed him.
She didn't care to attack her, Iris just fell on her knees wrapping Zuko's head and placing it on her lap. He was wincing in pain wrapping tightly the hurting area on his stomach.
"No, no, no...
"No!"
"Ah!"
"What's going on, did we get captured again?" Sokka asked with sleepy eyes and the boomerang on his hand.
"It's nothing, I just had a bad dream," Aang said.
"You too?" Iris muttered.
"Yeah," Aang said sadly and he laid back on the soil to try and sleep for the next hours of the night.
"Go back to sleep," Iris said trying to push the images of her nightmare away.
"You don't have to tell me twice," Sokka said and he laid back in his sleeping bag turning around coming face to face with Iris who laid beside him.
"Are you alright, Aang?" Katara asked worriedly. It had been almost a week filled with nightmares among the two air bending siblings. And knowing what had happened she wouldn't blame them.
"I-I'm okay," Aang answered hesitantly.
"You guys have a lot of nightmares lately," Katara said.
